Foo Fighters Promise Heavier New Album
/ News / 09/03/2010 15:54pm
Dave Grohl and his merry men are threatening to break out the distortion pedal on their next studio effort.
Stadium-sized rockers the Foo Fighters are threatening to turn down the ‘Long Road To Ruin’ and turn up the ‘Weenie Beenie’ on their next studio album. Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins have already begun demoing material and the band will reconvene with producer Butch Vig to record the effort in the final quarter of 2010.
Grohl told Rolling Stone: “This could be our heaviest album yet!”
While we’re in no position to tell a modern musical legend what he should be doing with his creative direction, we’d like it to include hints of the below.

I for one welcome the news.
Fuck the rest of you.
umm I love the Foo Fighters… i don’t always have to listen to metal :S
can’t wait to hear it
Bout time. The further they get from those 2 fecking tracks they did for the greatest hits, alls good.
Cant wait…ive been waiting for them to say that for a long time. Bring back for all the cows!
id rather have a new Probot album. but if the Foo Fighters want to get heavier it would be nice to put something good of theirs in since One By One although i cant be the only person wanting them to go back to their Colour and The Shape sound.
Finally! This can only be a good thing.
i just came……..blood
i’m hoping for death metal foo’s lol
Here’s hoping Grohl makes good on this. Foo Fighters turned from one of my favorites to a boring dirge over the last few albums.
It felt though his recent work was just going through the motions to please the masses.
good band, honoury metallers
probot is fucking insane! i agree, a second album would be awesome
I fucking hate bands coming out with the old “our heaviest album ever” bollocks, they always say it and they’re always fucking wrong.
I thought these queers would not record a new album this year as they were busy with their other projects, i.e. crooked vultures.
Poo fighters are a bit rubbish and queer.
I’ve always thought he (Dave Grohl) was a closet metaller but something was holding him back- now he’s made his fortune he can indulge himself.
Ummm, while i do like the foo fighters (kind of), why is this news on METAL hammer?
Foo Fighters aren’t metal.
And before ppl whinge that u can/should listen to things other than metal, i do. But i still dont see why this is on a HEAVY METAL website…
why did Q magazine do an interview with trent reznor? I think magazines and therefore their websites have + should cover a broad spectrum of music…. if Hammer concentrated on metal alone, there wouldn’t be lots to write about and they would decrease visits to the site.
Whilst I dont really like foo fighters anyway, it’s still interesting to see what other bands are up to. keeping your finger on the pulse I think is the expression
New Probot please.
can’t see a new probot album coming, it was supposed to be a one-off with dave’s favourite vocalists. the only one he said he didn’t get was tom araya so i doubt he’ll do another album
i can understand why some people are questioning why foo fighters are being mentioned on metal hammer, but lets be honest dave grohl (and the many bands he’s been in) has been a big influence on a lot of bands, and its not like FF get massive coverage in MH anyway. personally i welcome a return to a heavier style, they’ve not made a good album since 99!
As the FF debut record demonstrates, Grohl is best when he works alone.
This is music to my ears, as Foo Fighters is my favorite band!
(Yes, i do like metal… -.-’)
Gonna be nice to listen to a heavier Foo, but i’d rather have them make an album like The Colour and The Shape
