Metal Hammer Production Editor Vanessa Hards will be running in the Race For life this coming Sunday with all sponsorship money going to Cancer Research.
When taking part in this 5k run, the Race For Life people ask you to write who you will be running for on behalf of on your back. Vanessa will be running on behalf of Ronnie James Dio.
Cancer sucks,” says Vanessa. “It’s taken too many people I love, and now Dio is the final straw. I’ll be getting up far too early on Sunday and making a tit of myself running 5k around a field, no doubt being overtaken by little old ladies and the occasional snail.
“As if the humiliation won’t be enough, I’ll be the only one there not dressed head to toe in poxy pink, and my face will go so flushed it’ll clash with my hair. I should add that I am not one of those weird people who run for fun. It’s boring and I hate it with a passion and am only doing this because it’s an excellent cause.
“So please, take a sec to sponsor me a few quid so this exercise won’t be in vain, and it’ll go towards wiping out cancer for good.
“Horns up!”
