Hammerfest: Trigger The Bloodshed
Trigger The Bloodshed slay all that stand before them at Hammerfest!
Trigger The Bloodshed are a name that have been on people’s lips since their inception, but you could be forgiven for thinking that a band that are used to smashing craniums in tiny, sweatbox venues could get swamped on a platform the size of the Hammerfest main-stage. That they pull off a set that is rammed full of awesome showmanship beyond their youthful years and still manage flesh-severing intensity is just plain incredible.
What’s so refreshing about Trigger is that this is a band that don’t have to rely on trends at all. What’s trendy about specialising in traditional, Caniibal Corpse-flavoured death metal. Nothing at all, and yet the Hammerfest crowd lap up every last second of their 30 minute set. There’s no reason a band this ridiculously heavy should garner such a massive reaction, they do so because they’re so genuine, so utterly compelling and, most importantly, believable in a time where contemporary death metal band survive on clichés.
They’re also British. Savour that.
‘The Scourging Impurity’ is brutality incarnate and the head-snapping tempo changes of a fantastic blast through ‘Laceration’ is the oral equivalent of watching Bambi be thrown head-first into a combine harvester.
If you get the chance to see Trigger The Bloodshed in the near future, we don’t suggest you do so, we insist. Not only do Trigger fly the flag for Britain, this stunning band are bringing traditional death metal back in the most savage, intense way possible. Hammer salutes you!
