Iron Maiden Complete Work On New Album

It has been confirmed that Iron Maiden have just completed work on their brand new album. This new album, their first since 2006’s killer ‘A Matter Of Life And Death’, has seen the band take refuge in the Bahamas with producer Kevin Shirley.
A post on Shirley’s personal website runs: “There’s still work to do, but the band portion is complete and in the can, so to speak.”
Will we get a new Maiden album in time for Sonisphere?
Sonisphere Knebworth will take place from July 30th – August 1st and will feature performances from Iron Maiden, Rammstein, Alice Cooper, Motley Crue, The Cult, Iggy & The Stooges, Slayer, Anthrax, Placebo, Bring Me The Horizon, Fear Factory and Henry Rollins with more to be announced. Wow, that was quick. After all the rumours that it wasn’t due out until 2011….
Anyway, totally stoked for this. AMOLAD was a quality album and I bet they’ve surpassed it again this time around. Agreed with Destroying Dignity, they’ll probably preview a song or two at Sonisphere.

Musically, AMOLAD was amazing, but overall I thought it was overlong and pretty heavy going. Maiden have definitely taken the prog thing as far as it can go. I hope the new album features shorter, more immediate songs. Something in a similar vein to Somewhere in Time or Seventh Son would be incredible. Can’t wait to see them live again!
Hopefully playing all the classics recently will have fuelled their creative minds to create a “classic sounding” album (it seems to be the norm atm). Not that there was anything wrong with BNW, DoD or AMOLAD, but some classic stuff would be even more special
AHH the excitment cant be contained. Every album they release just reninforces the reason why the are not only my favourate band but the all time legands. Untouchable!

Hmmm, as much as I can’t wait for the next Maiden record Kevin’s site isn’t specific about which band he’s completed work for. I know Shirley has been producing Black Country the Hugues, Bonham, Bonamassa group maybe it’s that.

The album will NOT be out in time for Sonisphere. Nor will it be out this year. The band have confirmed this fact themselves.
From a business perspective, they want to do their own tour off of their new album. So they sign a load of exclusive festival appearance contracts for a pretty penny or 2, then they release the album the start of next year and do their own world tour to support it.
What we MIGHT be so lucky as to get (though I doubt it) is a new song performed on the festival circuit, like they did with Wildest Dreams on 2003’s Give me Ed til I’m Dead tour.

i have been a maiden fan for 24 years now, what i love about maiden is each album in the past ten years pushes them towards an even more epic level.
i love all of their stuff (except the two clunkers they did with BLAZE singing). as the years have gone by i appreciate DANCE OF DEATH over lets say NUMBER OF THE BEAST, the world has moved on and maiden sound better now than they did 30 years ago. Roll on the new album.
I think it will be out this year, several members of the band stated that the band will be in the studio at the start of 2010, why record it and then wait a year to release it ??????
Maiden can play Sonisphere and then play they on uk arena tour late summer/autumm.

Who said “Dance of Death” was better than N.O.T.B???? “Dance of Death” was god-awful. 1 or 2 good songs and the rest sounded more like Tenacious D parodying Iron Maiden than Iron Maiden. Especially the title track, Dance of Death, maybe the worst recording ever by this band. “And I danced, and I pranced”…..just picture Jack Black singing this in your head. Need I say more?

shit mudvayne have a new album recorded or written before the one being released, its business and we all fall into it, with a headbanging smile, anticapation sells. Maiden are the best in that catagory and musically let ‘em do what they do and up the irons!! I
