Even if that is the venue/promoter adding the charges, surely Metallica (one of the biggest bands on the planet) could sway this price downwards, it would be in their best intrest to do that because at the end of the day, it’s Metallica’s name thats going to get the negative press….

Personally I think Metallica have been running like a buisness since 1991, and this is a way to compensate for the possability that the gig won’t sell out.

when metallica plays here (london) i always think £50+ is a bit steep seeing as they have a stadium full of people buying tickets. just think about how much money they made on ticket sales from that wembley gig back in 07. £210 is insulting to the fans and i wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a huge backlash. thinking about it thats more than download costs this year.

And to think, I was at the Death Magnetic album launch at the O2, front row and it cost me a fiver. It’s got to be the promoters doing this

Wow they are charging about the same for a seated ticket as touting sites like Viagogo were charging for a standing one at the M.E.N Arena last year.

Although its probably the promoter/venue that set this price I expect Metallica didnt protest about it too much. As much as I love Metallica they arent exactly the kind of band who would go out of the way to help out their fans over something like this.

I’ve boycotted an AC/DC concert for about the same reason as these guys are doing for Metallica, and regardless of their nationality, I am totally supportive of their idea. However, I don’t really think that clicking the “join group” button on Facebook will really allow them to get cheaper tickets. Maybe addressing e-mails, massive amounts of complaints and boycott threats directly to the promoters might help a little…

Spooky. I looked on Ebay today to see how much tickets for tonight’s Kiss gig and watched in amusement as the price for one ticket went from £185 to £400 in the last 3 minutes of auction. So I guess that some (idiots?) do indeed pay ridiculous prices to see a band. Even if seeing Kiss up that close would enable you to see if Gene Simmons ‘hair’ is made up of individual hairs or just one, semi animate wooly lump. I suspect that Kiss up close would be kind of blurry, just to avoid a discovery like this. Back to the issue in hand, Lars Ulrich is a cunt and he is to blame in some way.

I assume its the promoter who is being totally out of order here as Metallica have shown in the past they arent just out to collect money. The Death Magnetic launch show at the O2 cost me £5 to be a few feet from the band and if i remember rightly they gave all takings to charity. Shame on them for working with such a wank promoter this time though!

As someone that has had experience on how concert ticket prices are decided, the band have to agree to them and sign a contract for them, so Metallica have had a say and agreed to them.

I wouldn’t pay £60 to see Metallica.

I have seen metallica in israel in 99,the ticket back than was about 25£!
The producers are out to get rich fast,but they won`t be able to sell lots of tickets…in israel 210£ is more like 400£ with the saleries that people earn there.
it`s a shame.

As for everyone else, the promoters charge that because the cost of bringing the band here, Since the band won’t allow them to rent the gear for this show here in Israel, which would cut the cost by a lot more than half. This comes from a band that cried over a few cents that they wouldn’t have even felt in their multi-million wallets when Napstar was big.

Fuck Metallica and their medicore music – I’m going to see Lamb of God for two thirds of the cheapest price for this concert.

It’s important to state that we understand the band is not involved in the ticket pricing process, and you can see that compared to the prices everywhere else on the tour.

Im a member of the group, and I love metallica. the story is that a greedy producer want to take advatage of the loyalty of fans. metallica was in israel in 99′ and the price was 200 shekels (about 50$). we had megadeth for the same price in 06′ and alot of band like dream theater, behemoth, finntroll, korpiklaani, kreator, machine head, nevermore and it cost between 150 to 260 shekels (40$-65$).

As an Israeli, I doubt that the high ticket price is for the added security. Most of the areas in Israel are safe, definitely the concert area, and even if they do need more security the price should not be that high.

I went to the previous Metallica concerts in 93 and 99 and they really kicked ass. I waited for this concert for years but I’m not going to buy a ticket… not in this price range.

I would pay it in a heartbeat.

I’m from Israel and I tell you that those prices are freakin’ insane and I won’t pay that much for the concert although they are my favorite band.
Last summer I was in Barcelona and there was a festival with a lot of bands like Metallica, Slipknot, Lamb of God and many more and a single ticket cost 75 euro which are not even half of the price of the ticket in Metallica’s concert here.

1. The average salary in Israel is about 1500 Euro per month. This may not put us on top of Switzerland but we have been consistently in the top 20 countries for quality of leaving. Bear in mind that we are leading the world in the high-tech industry.

2. Israel is far more modern and liberal than the US and 99% of Europe when it comes to woman rights, gay rights, etc’. we might be in the middle east but we certainly don’t act like it!

3. Yes there is war here, there has been for the last 3000 years. Nonetheless, the total deaths by terror attacks over the last year is less than 10. How many people were shot, stabbed, or otherwise murdered in your city over the last 12 months? Tel-Aviv is one of the safest cities in the world.

4. Considering the above, security is no reason for raising prices. Madonna was here a few months back and tickets cost half that!

5. All you people calling for boycotting Israel or making racist Jewish/money comments need IQ transplant. Honestly, you are not funny.

6. Last – the tickets prices are a disgrace! I’ve been a fun for over 20 years and I am not going. I have a good job and I can afford it but I will not support a band that robes its funs. I saw them back in 1993 when I was 18. The price was affordable to anyone. What are young funs supposed to do nowadays?
