Joe Perry: “Aerosmith Are Positively Looking For A New Singer”
Joe Perry confirms that the band are actively looking for a new singer while Steven Tyler “does his own thing”.
It seems as though the rumours are true as Joe Perry has confirmed that Aerosmith are seeking out a new singer while Steven Tyler concentrates on his own career.
Speaking on his Twitter page, Perry has said:
“Aerosmith is definitely NOT breaking up. One of the members is doing his own thing and said so in the press. That’s all I know.”
“In the meantime, Aerosmith is positively looking for a new singer to work with. You just can’t take 40 years of experience and throw it in the bin!”
“Band is playing hotter than ever and our songs need to be played live! Don’t despair; Aerosmith not splitting up. Promise that’s the last you’ll hear from me on the subject till we gear up again.”
Steven Tyler confirmed in a story with Classic Rock magazine that he would be spending 2010 concentrating on “brand Tyler”.

How can you have aerosmith without Tyler?! That’s like the Rolling Stones without Mick Jagger :-s. Call yourself something different FFS.
Obviously the rest of the band is trying to keep their sole claim to fame / cash cow going, by keeping the Aerosmith name. Tyler doesn’t need Aerosmith, but they need him.

If I’m not mistaken you guys tried this once before. You were pretty wasted at the time so maybe you don’t remember. I have been a long time “smith” fan. My first concert was in Bowling Green, Ohio in 1974. Joe, your mic stand hit me in the head when it fell off the stage in Toledo in 1975. That was a long time ago, I’m a lot older now and so are you. Maybe you all could make this an excuse to hang it up. When I listen to your music it is from your first album or “Get Your Wings”. I used to keep a spare “Get Your Wings” tape in my car so when the player ate the one that was playing I could pull it out and slap in a new one. “Toys” is a good third album and then you fell off the train as far as I’m concerned. The drugs and Steve’s throat problems changed the group forever. I’m amazed at your longevity. You’ve still put out some good tunes but nothing like the old stuff that really hooked me. You proved before that you can’t exist as a group without Steve so don’t try again, it would be too embarassing.
Too bad this is happening. sure they will get back togther sometime. For the new singer damn will he have some shoes to fill!

Borrow Jeff Kieth from Tesla, cut an album, do a tour, and call the band “Toys in the Attic.” Then give Jeff back to Tesla and have Stephen rejoin the band. Done.
