It’s safe to say that Slayer riffmeister Kerry King is a better guitarist than you (unless Eddie van halen is reading this, in which case hurry up and come to the UK and play some shows, Eddie!).
In light of this fact, Kerry has told Music Radar his top 3 tips to becoming a better shredder.

Yeah he is right. (except, newbies,-put the guitar down when your fingers bleed). Even though he might play out of key he is never out of time -thats why it works and why Slayerarrrggggghhhh!! have their unique sound. Can’t wait for World Painted Blood 20 years after the World Sacrifice tour- nice one.
KK is an overrated guitarist. sure he’s written some classic riffs, but the solos. no, just no. sounds like a music school dropout spazzing out. and it’s the same thing on eeeevery album.
I see what he means though, about not sticking to the basic scales e.t.c. I mean, i quite like changing it, throwing things that don’t quite fit in to E Minor thrash songs, sort of like a death solo or a typical Opeth song. It makes it sound sorta different, and not normal. Musics gotta progress some-how and i like how he was being revelutionary in that =)
Tip 1…
Does King not realise that the E – Bb movement he is talking about is far from wrong and one of the most used tools in metal?! It’s a flat 5th! Black Sabbath, Metallica, Dream Theater etc etc all use it.
It’s musically correct and is a common device to add tension or menace to a song. Perhaps he needs to read up on his theory a bit…………..

kerry king is a cock, all the dimebag slagging off he’s done then when he actually died he goes about pretending to be dimes buddy. I rememeber when re inventing came out king slagged it off even though he actually played guitar on ‘its electric’
