Korn Man Axed From Vampire Flick
The singer, who worked very closely with cult horror movie icon Clive Barker on the score for the third instalment of Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles, was set to appear in the film as the singer of fictitious rock band Satan’s Night Out. However, according to Davis’ record company, Sony Music, the film’s February release “contractually conflicts” with the label issuing Korn’s as-yet-untitled fifth studio album.
Davis will now no longer provide the singing voice for lead character Lestat (played by Stuart Townsend), but has recruited former Yngwie Malmsteen frontman Jeff Scott Soto to sing the five songs – (‘System’, ‘Slept So Long’, ‘Forsaken’, ‘Redeemer’, and Not Meant For Me’ – he wrote for Satan’s Night Out instead.
In related news, Jonathan Davis is currently in talks with the film’s producers, Warner Brothers, to secure a song by the late R&B singer Aaliyah for the soundtrack.
