Korn Sign With Roadrunner?

terrybezer / News / 25/03/2010 17:38pm

Will nu-metal legends Korn be joining the ever-growing list of bands on the Roadrunner roster?

Nu-metal stalwarts Korn are alleged to have signed with Roadrunner records for the release of their upcoming album, ‘III: Remember Who You Are’. The album is alleged to be a return to the sound of the band’s first two albums and, as such, is being produced by original producer Ross Robinson.

Taking part in an online chat, guitarist Munky said the statements that you can find below. (Source: Blabbermouth). Are you excited about this new Korn album?

Actually quite excited about the new Korn album. Wasn’t really expecting much from them at download last year after a few poor albums and 2006’s no-show, but they completely blew me away and got me excited for them again

Why is it called Korn 3? There wasn’t even a Korn 2…

After Download next year yeah i am!

I have really high hopes on the new album. Been a Korn fan for about 10years now. I like the recent stuff but the 1st 2 albums are the best by a long way. As for it coming out on Roadrunner lets just hope that this is a good sign. I remember a few years ago so before Nickelback and Madina Lake the rule was that if it was on Roadrunner it was generally a good album.

There was a Korn 2 – it was their second self-titled album wasn’t it?

Hell to the yes, although there hasn’t been a bad korn studio album, there have been high points and not quite so high points, i’m actually a little disappointed that they are returning to their older style as thought th point of a band was to continue forwards, like they had in the latest album, not trying to repeat the past, having said that, it will probably still destroy anything else thats been released this year.

Im amazed Roadrunner havent started their own festival yet with all the big name bands they have on their books nowadays they would probably be easily able to compete with the likes of Download and Sonisphere.

Machine Head, Slipknot, Korn, AIrbourne, Black Label Society, Black Stone Cherry, Alexisonfire, Devildriver, Dream Theater, Down, Hatebreed, Heaven & Hell, KISS, Lamb of God, Megadeth, Rob Zombie, Slash, Trivium, Opeth.

Just a small selection of the bands they have on their books and could you imagine a festival with all them playing it would be incredible.

Hell, they even have Meat Loaf signed on to them for his new album!

Regarding the Korn 3 title, their self titled one was probably number 1, but if you look at the tracklisting for Follow The Leader it’s like a continuation (track number wise) of the first album, so maybe the tracklisting for this album will carry on from where Follow The Leader left off…

Reed – nice idea, has a lot of merit. Would please a lots of fans and no doubt a sound business opportunity for all involved. I’d be supprised if the average MH reader didn’t own at least 10 – 20 (if not more) Roadrunner albums

Roadruner Fest!

@ Reed – Interesting observation there… One to note.
Only problem would be is that there just isn’t the “room” in the UK for another large-scale rock/metal festival. I could probably imagine it being a touring US festival though…

@ Jingee – For the UK they could look at teaming up with one of the current established festivals like how there was an Ozzfest day at Download in 2005 we could have a festival with a Roadrunner day.

I think the biggest potential drawback for Roadrunner would be having to arrange album releases and tours for their band that would fit around the festival. I imagine that they deliberately space out their bigger bands album releases and tours in order to maximise sales and trying to fit a load of bands onto the same festival bill would mean scheduling each of their individual tour commitments around the festival.

As unlikely as it is that Roadrunner Festival would happen i would be first in line for tickets if it did go ahead. Hell, after coming up with the idea they can give me a free backstage pass!

in regards to ’sounding like the first 2 albums’ can i just say that Life Is Peachy would be in the top 3 worst albums i ever bought! i do like the 1st album, follow the leader, issues and untouchables but they’ve been treading water since then in my opinion

Looking forward to the new album. Hope its better than the last

Korn without Head and David? Thx.
No way!
New drummer sucks.

the new drummer “ray luzier” is much more technically skilled than david ever was, not that im badmouthing david.

Well, id Roadrunner can sign Nickelback I´m sure Korn can do it. Liked the first few albums so this gives me hope for the new album.

With the whole Roadrunner festival idea – not a bad one but far more likely they would do a tour of a few big acts around the country (like the unholy alliance, black procession etc.)

Colombia

me gustaría que la gira de KoRn por suramerica hubiera sido entre el 94′ y 2002, cuando sonaba de lo mas brutal, pero haremos lo posible por estar en Bogota, ojala mejoren el sonido con roadrunner

Korn rules!!!! JD is a genius!!! Anybody who badmouths them obviously doesnt understand that a good band is one that can open their minds and creat new sounds and different shit, any band can keep making the same album.Im so sick and tired of faggots saying they suck now cuz they dont sound like their old shit, GET OVER IT AND DONT LISTEN IF U DONT LIKE IT!!!

i thought that cory tayler had a problem with korn well David cuz of the moddling but what ever i am stoked that thay are back and cant wate to c them at arrow hall april 6 with 5fdp hell ya KORN KORN KORN this is my 3 time and hope not the last

this signing just confirms my own theory about Roadrunner. They are picking up all the bands that are too small now for majors but too large for most indies. My guess is that Marilyn Manson will be the next addition to their roster now that he has left Interscope.

I agree the new drummer’s not good. Distinctive should not be confused with good. I guess ‘Korn II’ is the ‘Untitled’ album with the good cover but fairly duff music. Untouchables was far better than people remember.

Coey Ohwow

I like Roadrunner and I love KoRn, but I don’t want this to be true because I don’t want to have to buy three copies of every fucking album from now on.
