Max Cavalera: I Don’t Think Sepultura Is Doing All That Good These Days

max_cavalera901A brutally honest statement is unleashed from the former Sepultura frontman.

Max Cavalera was recently asked what he thought of the current state of Sepultura while he was a guest on US radio show, ‘The Classic Metal Show’. He responded by saying: “Well, it’s not really up to me to say that. I think I left it up to the fans to decide, and I think they are showing their feelings, because I don’t think Sepultura is doing all that good these days.”

“There’s no original members, and it’s just kind of hard to believe in a band like that, because everybody that was in it originally has left,” continued Cavalera. “But what can I say?! I’m pleased with what I’m doing. Playing with Igor is great, and the way Soulfly is coming together is great, so I just keep doing my thing.”

Do you think the classic Sepultura line-up could ever reform? A UK festival next summer would be a better place with that on its line-up, wouldn’t it?

I pray for classic Sepultura everyday…Download 2010, i can only dream!

No doubt that the old Sepultura played some superb shit, but that was then. The new Sepultura is completely different and obviously not as brilliant as the old Sepultura, but their metal is genuine and their concerts are furious; no compromises! Have you seen a Max Cavalera concert lately??; it is almost embarrassing!
Respect for Max Cavalera and what he did for metal, but the current Sepultura deserves more respect . They are definately not the crap band that he is always referring to. Their albums and shows prove him wrong!

I disagree with anyone who says that Max is embarrassing live and that new Sepultura is in anyway proving him wrong. I don’t think that they should even use the name because they cant live up to the reputation and sound that Sepultura once had with Max. A reunion would be fuckin killer!

I’d have to agree with Max, but then again I can’t say I’m all too impressed with soulfly. Generic metal riffs, with hints of Brazillian music may sound like a good idea, but in Soulfly’s execution it just sounds boring. The current Sepultura certainly seem technically capable of creating some good stuff, but they just keep missing the mark. Such a shame. Gimme the classic line-up to play “Beneath the Remains” in concert, any day.
