Megadeth Guitarist: “The UK Is Always Supportive Of Megadeth”
On Thursday, April 12, Megadeth guitarist Chris Broderick joined the Metal Masters at Hollywood’s Key Club for a star-studded metal melee that saw the likes of Phil Anselmo leading a band of metal legends like Slayer’s Kerry King and Dave Lombardo, Megadeth’s Broderick and Dave Ellefson, Anthrax’s Charlie Benante and Frank Bello, and Adrenaline Mob’s Mike Portnoy through a pair of Slayer tunes (Raining Blood and Angel of Death) and five classics off of Pantera’s Vulgar Display of Power (including Mouth for War and A New Level).
Not to mention closing the night out with Black Sabbath‘s Geezer Butler on Hole in the Sky. Handling the guitar parts of legendary axeman “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott was an honor and an opportunity Broderick relished, as well as a chance to warm his fingers up for Megadeth’s globe-whipping spring tour, which sees them shredding their way through Brazil, a string of US dates with Rob Zombie and a June European tour that includes the final evening at Download 2012. “The UK is always supportive of Megadeth,” Broderick told Metal Hammer, “They’re huge fans there and playing over there is always a big pleasure because the fans there know how to bring it, so we’d better bring it too, right? I’m excited to see our friends in the UK. We’ve got a lot of friends there, so it’s going to be a good time.”
Aces, Chris. The pleasure will be all ours.
Megadeth play Download this June. ‘Th1rt3en’ is out now via Roadrunner.
