Dave Mustaine reveals a setlist that can only be described as testicle-frying. Get Download 2010 tickets here!

Megadeth really know how to wet the appetite, don’t they? not only has Dave Mustaine reunited with original bassist Dave Ellefson to head out on a tour that will include the classic ‘Rust In Peace’ album being played in its entirety, the flame-haired metal legend has also confirmed that the following Megadeth classics will be part of the set:

Set The World Afire
Wake Up Dead
In My Darkest Hour
Sweating Bullets
Skin O’ My Teeth
Head Crusher
A Tout Le Monde
Symphony Of Destruction
Trust
Peace Sells, But Who’s Buying?

Mustaine also had the following to say about the forthcoming trek:

“One great thing is that we all know so many, many songs, and that this is just the starting point.

“Remember, David Ellefson knows everything of Megadeth’s career, excluding a few new tracks, Shawn knows them all, and Chris is learning them as fast as he can. All in all, I think that we have approximately 40 songs we can do on this next month’s tour. We will return to the ‘Endgame Tour’ after that, and may play any of the ‘Rust In Peace’ tracks over the coming years. We already play several songs off of ‘Rust In Peace’ — ‘Holy Wars’, ‘Take No Prisoners’, ‘Tornado Of Souls’, and ‘Hangar 18′. It will be fun to have some new gems added to our set list, and also the possibility of us revisiting songs that I mentioned were added to our playlist for potential songs to perform from ‘Killing Is My Business’ or ‘Peace Sells, But Who’s Buying?’

“I have to get going now to get to the studio to start mixing the new track that I have been working on.

“I am not sure if the party I am doing this for has said anything lately, because I have been in my studio 20,000 leagues under the sea, and haven’t seen any news lately. I do know that we will be describing the track and the people who I wrote this for very soon.”

So, by the looks of things, we won’t be getting ‘Rust In Peace’ at Download but the possibilities for the band’s setlist are endless. Bring it the fuck on!

AC/DC, Megadeth, Bullet For My Valentine, Deftones, Motorhead, Volbeat and Stone Temple Pilots are amongst the first 9 bands confirmed to be celebrating the 30th anniversary of Donington as the home of rock and metal! Get Download 2010 tickets here!

Awesome news, if they play a set that looks anything like that at Download it will be immense.

Lol, so i guess endgame failed then? it was rather shit tbh

they will not play all those at download as i dont actually think they will be high up the bill enough to get enough time to play them all… prob 45 min set i reckon… thats a headline set and i dont think they will headline any download stages!

Megadeth play those tunes nearly ever set they play anyway. I’ve seen Megadeth play 3 or 4 times, and the only 2 of those tracks i’ve not seen live more than once are ‘Set The World On Fire’ and ‘Headcrusher’.

When are the ever going to play ‘Good Mourning… Black Friday’ or ‘The Conjuring’ live, eh?

They’ll never do the conjuring again because mustaine found god. Megadeth are clahns for not varying their set up often enough. However, No one has the right to complain! All of their best album all the way through with their best lineup ever? Exactly.

Download making 2 announcements tonight, one at 8 and the other at 12:30. Just thought id spread the word (:

Can we PLEASE have a tour with a set-list like that over here Dave? Pretty unfair only a small minority of shows will feature RIP in its entirety, none of them over here. >.<

Great news & Great expectations!

bigdumbsex

class!

does anyone know how often, if ever, they play the scorpion?

dave, hes said they are going back to endgame after this. its the 20th aniversery of rust in peace so there doing an old school setlist. endgame has actually done extremely well.

walkwithmeinhell

is Dave (2nd comment, not dave mustaine) saying that endgame is shit?!?!?!?!

Chris Ward

How fucking cool is that setlist? Let’s hope that UK audiences get something similar at some point.

@ bigdumbsex. I’m pretty sure that hasn’t been played for years now. I think it’s unlikely to make it’s way back into their set anytime soon as if they play anything at all from “The System has failed” album it tends to be “Kick The Chair”

I would like to hear the whole of YOUTHANASIA played live one day … It is such a great album, there is something mathematical about it! All things happen with precision and regularity. Even the wah in Blood of heroes is precise, like a theorem!! And lyrics of that one reminds me German Romantics! Of course, it has a definitive Wagnerian atmosphere to it, such as methodical rapture …

It is an uncool thing to say this about Youthanasia … It is supposed to be about speedier riffs and barest of melodies. I like that sort of thing. Even I can play that sort of thing.

Megadeth is about what is impossible for everyone else!!

C’mon Mustaine … Do another YOUTHANASIA!!!!!!

I want them to come to Australia! We need some good fucking bands over here!

lets not forget that david is back and he may not know some of the endgame tracks when they do the Endgame tour, also Dave mustaine said that Chris is trying his best about the old tracks

@ Dave.. actually seeing as how Dave Ellefson is back, doesn’t it seem obvious to play the older stuff?.. when they played the Endgame tour shows i think they played 5 or 6 songs from it. this is the Rust in Peace tour, remember?
