I think it is cool that Metal Hammer put this online. I like reading the print. But there you cannot do the comment thing.

Then, metal is again in fashion. So fair weather fans will have to be spawned. She could be one. Which will be good for metal.

But the loyal ones, like most of us, hate it when something so close to our self identity, something so loud and noisy which we alone can bear, which set us apart from the crowd, is suddenly available to everybody!

But we have seen it before? While in school I remember the dumb dick who listened to Madonna and M C Hammer came up to me and said ‘You got to pay a listen to metal. You’ve heard of metallica? Nothing else matters and unforgiven … great stuff!’ Well, a week later I made him and his pals listen to So Far So Good So What and he said ‘this is not metal! metal is what the boys in metallica does’.

So I will go and plug in SFSGSW and Badmotorfinger right now and read Giorgio Agamben!

I strangely love this. I wasn’t surprised at all she liked the Slayer or Megadeth song. But it’s no surprise she likes metal. Everybody does deep down inside. Hell, my dad blatenly hates metal, but whenever I play Metallica’s Jump In the Fire he can’t help but sing the chorus.

I’m not sure how much of her “liking” metal was real or not. A lot of people just whore success of liking what’s popular. That’s why both Nickelback & Snoop Dogg have played “Sad but True” by Metallica at concerts, & why some pop singer (can’t remember her name) covered Slayer’s Raining Blood.
