Lamb Of God, Stone Sour, 5F fucking DP!!

Fuck Yeah.

tempting to go but not 100% yet. Need to know more.About 5 bands over 3 days i’d want to see.

Sam Ellis - Thompson

Things are looking good with RATM, ACDC, Lamb of God and 5FDP, but Sonisphere and Bloodstock seem to have already poached a lot of the metal acts.

Bucka D

Some good bands are actually going like defones, stone sour, AC/DC, areosmith n billy Idol. but still Bloodstock is still kicking its ass by far with metal so im staying with BOA

Adam Waine

Download isn’t and never has been exclusivly a metal festival. More so this year than any other (since its been under Live Nation/Probyn/Copping) it is being designed to pay tribute to Rock in as blancket a term as that can psossibley be whilst celebrating the sites history.

Andy Copping et al have made this abumdantly clear from before the first announcement and so far I think the bands he’s managed to get are INCREDIBLE and there are more to come.

My point is….why can’t the “its not Metal” crowdplease SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!! This is not THAT festival, understand this, deal with it, go/don’t go just stop whining like little bitches with a skinned knee!

Surprise announcement of the night was Aerosmith. Hasn’t Steve Tyler got a lot of problems at the moment? (Is he in Aerosmith, is he not? etc).

Great act to announce, but surely there’s a chance it might not happen with the recent news regarding Aerosmith, correct?

i would love to go 2 download but its way 2 exspenive and i mean every year they rise the prices sooner or later no will be able to afford to go adlest with blood stock they think about the fact that people cant afford what dl due to most people not haveing the money ask and can still put on an awsome line up

John Beadle

looking like a really great package, well rounded, covering lots of great genres…though bit sad to see Megadeth getting bumped further down the order with every new band being added! :-(

30 Secs to Mars worthy of more stage time?! really?!?

RaisingHell

Podcasts are always the best channel to achive something.

I’m pretty stoked that I got my ticket last year on the early bird deal. Now I can’t fucking wait. I mean the first announcement was awesome and for me BFMV just makes the festival but this announcement is pretty epic too…. :D

It now seems Download is matching out the different genres of rock, but from where I’m sitting the line up stilll looks slightly dissapointing considering how kick ass Sonisphere is…and If Sonisphere get Rob Zombie this summer…its a clear in the bag win for Soni!

People seem to forget that Download is the little brother of “the monsters of rock” festival…… hear that fuckwits………ROCK!!! There is always enough metal at download and I’m absolutly stocked that we have Aerosmith, AC/DC and RATM headlining. Aerosmith can sell out Hyde park, AC/DC sold out Wembley Stadium and Rage headlined Reading!!!! Massive headliners in my eyes.

Thier’s some interestering bands there but why the hell are Megadeth being billed below 30 Seconds To Mars

A bit dissapointed by the midnight announcement, but I think this is the first Download Festival to have all fantastic headliners since Metallica, Tool & Guns & Roses in 2006!

It’ll be great to watch these bands, (unless Aerosmith pull out all the power ballads), but having already seen Acca Dacca and Aerosmith at Donington, and RATM at Reading in 93, it does concern me that this is a nostalgia exercise.

Aerosmith haven’t put out a decent album for twenty years, and RATM’s output, other than their debut album, is mediocre at best. Only Black Ice is worth getting excited over.

This just goes to show that the number of genuine headline bands, currently producing the goods in the studio, is too small to provide the five main stage showstoppers needed each year by Download and Sonisphere.

In five year’s time, when the likes of Maiden and Metallica have reached the end of the line, Metal will be as dead a genre as Jazz was when Coltrane and Davis ran out of steam.

RaisingHell

Must agree “Monsters of Rock” still the main event.

Chris Binks

Listen up kids:

1. Its not a Metal festival, although personally i wish it was…..(In an arnie Impression) SO STOP WHINING!

2. If you dont like a band, dont watch them. Dont just bash them on here/facebook….NO ONE CARES

3. There are still like another 100 bands to announce

4. Chill the fuck out

There are 2 bands that I don’t Like on that bill, TCV and 30secs to mars, For me this is the best line up for a long time, 3 amazing headliners and some big support acts, I really don;t understand how people can complain. The weird thing is people are actually complaining more now than when my chemical romance headlined, perhaps the new decade is making us fussy?

I’m totally a sonisphere guy and I havent been to download yet, but I might have to go this year!! The lineup is great at the moment. Lets hear some sonisphere announcements!

Will Beardmore

Can’t understand how anyone would be disappointed about seeing AC/DC and Aerosmith in the same weekend. It’s going to be the best party ever.

Not so pleased about Megadeth creeping down the bill, suspiciously close to their usual 50 minute slot. They deserve more this year.

Dee4leeds

Rage Against the Machine AND Stone Sour in one night… what’s not to like?

Roots rock Riley

I have just had an interesting thought…….. billy idol was one of the several rumours to replace steve tyler wasn’t he? so perhaps copping is playing it safe, just in case worse comes to worse ????

Edward Stevens

Looks like it’ll be the same as last year for me then. Two headliners have listened to much (Ac/DC and Aerosmith) but know some of their songs and one I can’t wait for, Rage against the Machine!
I reckon the ‘middle bands’ will make this year again Lamb of God, Stone Sour, Trivium, Machine head, Killswitch Engage etc.

The more I look at this line up the more I like it. AC/DC? People shut the fuck up, I can’t wait to hear you all singing along to Thunderstruck. RAGE? Yeah I can understand that, tis a great move, remember how excited they were when they first re-united and the rage about them at Christmas (pun-intended) Aerosmith, not my favourite but jeeeez a chance to see the toxic twins without going to the US. wake the fuck up people.

As for the other bands, it looks mega, really does, there already looks like there is enough for everyone already, this line-up will only get stronger and I’m looking forward to it.

Sam Stowe

I think that 5FDP should be quite high on the bill this year,
also, can someone please shoot every member of 30STM

“Can someone please shoot every member of 30STM”

Someone tried to…

The Real Ollie

Rage Against The Machine, Aerosmith, Lamb of God, Stone Sour, Five Finger Death Punch, Billy Idol.

Any Rock/Metal fan who isn’t pleased with that and the line up this far… is an egg roll.

stevev666

It’s a solid anouncement with the awesome AC/DC and mighty Megadeth already still on the bill with Lamb of God and 5fdp to bring some great modern Metal to the table but other than that none of the other bands really excite me and Megadeth will probably tour Endgame soon and Lamb of God and 5fdp come round fairly often , I think it’s Bloodstock for the win

StealthyPike

Both Download and Bloodstock are looking great, I can’t make up my mind. :( While overall Bloodstock appeals to me more, with Behemoth, CoB, Fear Factory, Gojira, Cannibal Corpse, Sonata Arctica and of course many more bands that I love, Download has some MASSIVE bands playing. AC/DC will of course be amazing, RATM, if they perform to the max will also be great, and Lamb of God, being my favourite band, will have to do a lot to dissapoint me. xD

dudes!…who r 2nd Stage headliners!!?…….cos who wanna see anyone when rage and acdc r playin!?

All i can say is………BILLY IDOL! :D

I’m not sure what to make of the announcement. We all saw Rage coming from miles off, from the moment Copping got involved in the free gig, they were going to play download. Aerosmith is big, but its whether they have a front man. Unless the Steve Tyler thing gets sorted out soon, i can see them not putting 100% into the performance, and it being a massive let down. For LoG fans, they have just done a tour and did soni last year. Billy Idol, i never really got into. We knew Stonesour would be somewhere. Five Finger played DL last year, nothing special. and 30STM is just horrific, and them higher up the bill than Megadeth? thats disgusting!

If Aerosmith are on form, it will be great. Rage are always awesome, but i can’t help but feel they’re there for the people who don’t get tickets to the free gig. The other 5 arn’t huge, and wheres the massive reunion Copping was on about?

I like the headlines a lot, and if I lived in the UK, I would definitely go for it, because it’s a really huge event with an impressive number of great bands all playing together at the same place, and who knows what can happen to AC/DC or Aerosmith before next year… But my point is, I’m going to the Swiss Sonishpere ans Wacken festivals, and I sincerely think that their headlines are good-looking enough for me not to regret not going to Download. Cheers! :)

imo ratm are rubbish but the announcment of aerosmith might make me go. c’mon aerosmith and ac/dc two of the worlds best selling rock bands in one festival thats amazing

Alex Brown

While I hate the “It’s not metal” crowd as much as anyone, the slavish devotion some people seem to be showing to a festival is wearing pretty thin. If someone says something you disagree with then come up with a sensible, well thought out counter argument. Since when did we give up the right to express an opinion just because it’s a negative one?

The “Shut up and don’t go then” crowd’s attitude is just as bad as the “That’s not metal”, frankly both of them can sod off and die in a ditch.

gedmundo

3 best headliners ever. Part of me hopes there’s virtually no metal this year just to bug the whiney cunts who reckon aerosmith are shit. Go back to the handbag and get out your hanky if you want to cry about it

Ryan6sic6

“That’s not met…SHUT THE FUCK UP.
-Aerosmith? They have some of the most legendary, epic ballads of all time.
-Billy Idol? White Wedding.
-RATM? Anyone complaining about RATM after the anarchy at christmas deserves to be put in a room with only a cover of the ghostbuster’s theme tune being played by Insane Clarn Posse for all eternity.
-30STM? Ok, you may have a point here, but still:
-LAMBOFFUCKINGGOD
-Stone Sour
-FFDP

And on top of that, you still have AC/DC, Megadeth, BFMV, Motorhead, and Stone Temple Pilots.

If that’s not good enough for you, go to Thonithphere.

okay with this announcement Download definitely has the upper hand … I can’t see Sonishpere winning now… At least for me anyway.

daniel the maggot

its definatly not as strong as last years line up with the like of slipknot and faith no more, but its still a strong anouncement. meeercat

I’m following wherever Soundgarden lead!

it’s too good….my money is slowly moving away from sonisphere and aiming to download….but really looking foreward to seeing what sonispheres gonna pull out to counter this.

Spanner

Tim Minchin is awesome

The headliner announcement was epic but the other announcement was shocking. Billy Idol, 30STM, Five Finger Death Punch and Stone Sour are all fucking atrocious.

sonisphere just got really hot under the collar

Shaping up quite nicely, hopefully Aerosmith will play a classics set and not just a balladthon. Sonisphere are going to have to make an announcement soon and oh whats this on metallicas fan club site they will be announcing more euro dates for june very soon mmmm festival maths anyone?

Sean Willis

I like the look of the headliners but the rest of the bill so far doesn’t look that great, Megadeth and Motorhead are big enough to do headline slots but they’ve got the likes of 30 seconds to mars above them.

Andy Copping has just jumped on the RATM xmas no.1 bandwagon and is now trying to claim it as his own by making it look like the free gig is just a warm-up for Download

Fabian Oliveira

Download bill is great, but Sonisphere booked stronger headliners this year. I mean, no one is better live than ACDC, but their tour is 3 year old now, they have played all over the world and I don“t believe they will change their setlist as much as some people are hoping they will. Maiden with a new album in the can and Ramnstein are just stronger acts now.
