Metallica Begin Shaping Plans For 2011
The metal behemoths already have a date booked for September and there’s whisperings of the band going into the studio!
For a band that are about to take their first block of time off in nearly four years, Metallica aren’t exactly slowing down for 2011. The band have already been confirmed to be one of the headliners at next year’s Rock In Rio (the Brazilian one, not the Lisbon or Madrid off-shoots) next September and, more excitingly, Lars Ulrich has begun to talk about the band getting together to write new material.
“There’s a bunch of balls in the air for 2011, but I think the main one is we really want to get back to writing again,” Ulrich told Pulse of Radio. “We haven’t really written since, what, ’06, ’07, and we want to get back to kind of just being creative again. Right now we are going to just chill out and then probably start up again in, I’d say, March or April, and start probably putting the creative cap back on and start writing some songs.”
With the rumours that Metallica manager Peter Mensch spoke to Classic Rock about earlier this year surrounding ten ‘mind-blowing’ shows in ten different cities in 2011, the Metallica juggernaut shows little sign of slowing down next year.
