i’m always amazed by how popular country music is in america. i say amazed, i mean bewildered! but its good to see metallica pissing all over boybands and selling about as much as wailing bitches like mariah carey!

Shame it’s their most “mainstream” album that’s the best selling, not the best (which is debatable).
One thing’s that surprised me is: no AC/DC? I thought “Back in Black” was the biggest selling album by a group of all time? :S

@jingee back in black mostly sold in the early 80s, this is only since 1991 when this nielsen soundscan started. ac/dc havent released much in that time so their only sales will realistically be people converting from vinyl to cd

And these numbers are in USA only , i think in Europe Ac/dc would be in top 5.

I haven’t even heard of Garth Brooks, Celine Dion, George Strait, Tim McGraw or Alan Jackson. Also… Creed in top albums? I could pretty well understand the rest, but Creed? Since when are they popular? When did this happen? Is this why there’s a gaping portal to Hell in my basement?

i read somewhere that for all-time album sales records, garth brooks has actually sold more albums in america than the beatles and led zeppelin…and i think it was on the official billboard site so its likely to be true!

I got all they’re CD’s up to the Black Album and Death Magnetic. I’ve heard enough of Load/ReLoad and St Anger to not purchase them.

I remember seeing another Metallica soundscan thing and i think all their sell out era albums out sold their good ones!

Load & Reload are incredibly underrated albums tbh, if you stop being so fucking ” metulllz” and give it a shot, there are some brilliant songs on both records, bleeding me,outlaw torn,where the wild things are etc. just shows metallica dont have to listen to there fans and do what THEY want.

their 1st 5 albums and death magnetic are pure fuckin masterpieces.
