Metal Hammer took the time to speak to Mr Joey Jordison this week about the forthcoming touring line-up of the Murderdolls. While it’s common knowledge that Wednesday 13 and Joey will form the backbone of the band, Joey spoke to us about why the old line-up won’t be returning and who will form the new look Murderdolls.
“The old band, we didn’t even know each other before it all came together,” says Joey. “We didn’t even play as a band until we were on the set of the ‘Dead In Hollywood’ video. It was just a case of throwing five guys into a bus and learning to become friends. It was dysfunctional but it worked but this time, we wanted it to be a little more stable. It was apparant that if were going to do The Murderdolls again, we were going to do it with everything we’ve got and we’ve got.”
“This time we wanted solid players. Roman Surman is going to be playing guitar for us,” confirms Joey. “He played the leads on the record. He’s the only other one of the guys who played on the record. Racci Shay Heart is going to be our drummer and he’s the last of a dying breed of drummers. He’s like a demonic Keith moon and that’s the highest compliment I can pay somebody. Our bass player Jack Tankersly, who looks like he’s in The Seahags. He’s all long black hair and tight as shit with Racci and the band now sounds exactly like I always wanted it to sound.”
Ozzy Osbourne will headline a one-day feast of metal at this year’s Ozzfest festival at the o2 on September 18th. Also on the bill will be Korn, The Murderdolls and Skindred with one more main stage band to be announced and a full second stage to also be revealed. There will also be a Village of the Damned taking over the o2 with a funfair, tattooists and all manner of metal-orientated stalls. Get tickets for Ozzfest UK here!

The Sea Hags fuckin ruled.
Ah, I thought as much. Although no-one can deny that Acey, Ghoul and Eric made for an awesome band, a line-up change will probably suit their new sound better.
lets be having more Ozzfest band announcements!
they look like gays.
what happened to real men in metal?
Gotta agree with the Sea Hags comment!
Shame it’s not really the Murderdolls again, It’s about as detached from ” Beyond The Valley..”, as Wednesday’s solo stuff was. There’s obviously been alot of sh*t said and done over the past 6 years, as it seems Ben said out-right he wouldn’t play in the band, Eric declined to play to stay do his own thing, and I’m not even sure Acey was asked. :-s
All set to be a great album though, I’ll defo be getting my hands on a copy, and will be getting myself along to a gig.
Adrian, was there even the slightest, and I mean ’slightest’ point in your comment? I feel truly cheated, out of two seconds of MY life for reading your comment. I will never get them back.Ever.
Men in make-up?
It will never catch on.
This is a really good read for me. I don’t really have a bunch to say in response. I just wanted to comment to reply “well done”. It seems like you’ve put a ton of effort into your blog, and I thank you for that.
