In this months issue:
Another issue of Metal Hammer touches down like Iron Maiden in their Boeing. Which is appropriate, because we flew out to South America with Maiden and report back on all the tour shenanigans, riot police and international metal lunacy!
The mag this month comes with a limited edition Iron Maiden mouse-mat and ma-hoosive double-sided Iron Maiden/Heaven & Hell poster.
We talk to riff lord Tony Iommi and pipes of steel, Ronnie James Dio about the Heaven & Hell album, ‘The Devil You Know’ – which happens to be one of the best of the year. Jaz Coleman of Killing Joke explains his apocalyptic polemic, we drop into Zakk Wylde’s house to have a chat with the great man in his own habitat and Chimaira explain their complicated line-up changes. Oh, and their best album for years.
Also in the mag, we headed to the US for the first American Golden Gods Awards – hanging out with Ozzy, Lemmy, Slipknot, Machine Head, Killswitch Engage and loads more. Metallica frontman, James Hetfield, tells us the story of his life and we give the Italian sex(y)tet Lacuna Coil a good roasting in the Spanish Inquisition.
We tell you the story of the making of Monster Magnet’s seminal space rock odyssey, ‘Dopes To Infinity’. Children Of Bodom get their metal detected as we fill you in on their back catalogue. And we tell you everything you ever wanted to know about Lawnmower Deth.
All the latest news, reviews and interview from the underground in Subterranea: Sunn 0))), Inferno Festival, Absu, Cobalt, Candlemass and Brutal Truth. And we let you know about all the best new bands in Incoming, with pieces on No Made Sense, The Sorrow, Idiom, Amberian Dawn, Of The I and more.

Can you stop with the Iron Maiden stuff now? I’m seriously bored of it. Let’s hear about some other bands!
This is ridiculous!!!! I paid £7 odd online for this magazine, and I could’ve bought it in HMV!?!?!?!
YOU DIDN’T SAY THAT!!!!
KingOli.
Maiden are the biggest Metal band in the world and deserve all the coverage they get.
Just a shame it is via this Comic book style magazine. About time they signed an exclusive deal with ‘Classic Rock’, a magazine that knows how to write decent, intelligent articles.
only disappointment was no cd
been getting into a load of new bands thru them
cant there be a mix of metal hammer and classic rock? classic metal? a serious magazin about old school metal, instead of a children metal magazin about dragonforce trivium and slipknot. the only nice thing in metal hammer is subterranea. And we had enough maiden, everybody knows about maiden i want to learn about some new bands
why do everyone elses comments but mine get printed right away?
You could’ve given the LED Force One’s to the subscribers that would have been nice *sniffs*.
No CD?!!?
I love the CD, introduced me to so many top bands. Hope this isn’t a permentant thing.
Chimairas best album for years?
i dunno, i really like thier self titled album, everything else (including the infection) just seems abit boring and generic.
im not too bothered by another maiden article, i mean theres not really any other bands making headlines.. so its better its about the best live band in the world than someone like limp bizkit.. or yet another slipknot article…
that chimaira album was well boring.. the new DAATH album fucking owns boss…
Great coverage of the LA Golden Gods!! And the Heaven And Hell poster is awesome!!
I hope there’s a CD for overseas readers!
Another Maiden article? Whyyyyyy? I get that their a great band but it seems recently thats all we have had in Metal Hammer!
A big Malefice article would be cool.
Still I’ll buy it ’cause I always do & to be honest whats the alternitive?
IDIOM are in there!!! amazing band! so glad you guys have noticed there potential!
I agree with Alex, the Cd’s always great, hope it comes back next month
Can’t believe no CD! Can I swap my mouse mat for a CD? Can use it as a mouse mat when I have finished.
Sort it out Hammer!
It says something about a free t shirt on the cover aswell…where is it?
Do people still use mouse mats? I thought thats what it was but it felt like going back in time. I might try and peel off the pictur and sew it on something
Carl, Malefice feature was in last month’s issue.
The mouse mat looks amazing.:)
It doesn’t exactly work too well, but it doesn’t matter.
I got a CD with my issue… Tesco exclusive Sacred Mother Tongue CD
The main reason I get this mag is for the CD, please get the member of staff responsible to sort it out. Also, what the f**k, howd mofos buy s**t from tesco and get a CD and subscribers don’t?! I’m struggling to see the benefits here. MORE FREE SH!T PLEASE, AND DON’T FORGET THE CD.
Wow! Tesco defending the faith. Sacred Mother Tongue were awesome at Hammerfest and gave away ‘Two thousand eight hundred’.
i agree i think it’s time to stop hearibg about maiden there beggining to bore me nd with all this coverage i’m starting to dislike them
why can’t we hear more on bands like trigger the bloodshed and trivium so on and so forth so plz stop the maiden stuff for now at least \m/ METAL ALL THE WAY !!!! \m/
[...] Metal Hammer caught up with James Hetfield for a very special My Life Story. To catch the whole interview (including what James thought Cliff Burton would have made of the 90’s), get your hands on a copy of the latest issue of Metal Hammer – on sale now! [...]

wow oli…go fuck yourself!
Maiden are the best band in the world and there would be no good music if Maiden hadnt of formed
Stop fucking complaining that you’re not getting enough free stuff you fucking assholes.
The reason theres so much covering of Iron Maiden could be because they’re one of the biggest fucking metal bands in the world who have just released a fucking film… its kind of a big deal.
It’s not the quantity of free stuff thats the problem. Who uses mouse mats now anyway. Like I said earlier, I will gladly swap my mouse mat for a cd. Not both – I’m not greedy!
whoever thinks classic rock should do maidens coverage are idiots,
1. because metal hammer are the best magazine to write about metal and classic rock know very little on metal hence being named classic ‘rock’ and not classic ‘metal’.
2. show the journalists some respect they work hard.
3. your just angry because they get to fly round the world with maiden and you dont. so METAL UP YOUR ASS!!!
You’re still fucking complaining that the free stuff they’re giving you isnt good enough? Grow the fuck up and buy a CD then you cunt.
Maybe when I grow up I can swear like you too!
Perhaps I’m set in my ways, but after buying Metal Hammer for over 10 years, you kind of get used to a CD or DVD. Maiden as and established band don’t need the publicity to sell their DVD. Less high profile bands benefit from the exposure the CD’s given away with mags like Hammer. Hearing a band you never heard before is always exciting and something this months issue wont provide.
Is that civilised enough for you?
