Ozzy Pulled Off
The fly-on-the-wall TV show that follows one Ozzy Osbourne and family throughout their day to day life gained huge ratings in the States, but has hit ‘contractual difficulties’ on this side of the pond and so has been abruptly put back. It was due to air this Sunday (May 19th).
The website guardianunlimited.com has reported that the problem is due to negotiations over fees for the second series which have entered their third week and are currently running around the £15 million mark.
A spokesman for MTV said, “due to contractual issues that have yet to be resolved, we are not going to be launching ‘The Osbournes’ on MTV this weekend,” adding, “the show will be getting it’s UK premiere on MTV in the next couple of weeks.”
MTV has taken out a large amount of advertising for the show, and even the old Black Sabbath frontman has appeared on a few high profile chat shows promoting the series.
Also, according to a story in trade paper Mediaweek, ITV, C4 and C5 are about to enter a bidding war for the show’s terrestrial broadcast after it gained the highest viewing figures for MTV in the States, attracting up to eight million viewers.
