Page: “We Won’t Tour As Led Zeppelin”
Jimmy Page has confirmed reports that if himself, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham are to tour with a vocalist who is not Robert Plant, they will not be using the name Led Zeppelin.
He made the announcement to Rolling Stone through a spokesperson who revealed that it is likely that the three musicians will recruit a new vocalist and tour at some point in the near future. The favourite to rock the microphone with these three guys remains Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy although as has been reported, they have also jammed with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.

Oh come on, you can’t be pissed at Robert Plant. It’s been nearly 30 years since they split (with a few reunions here and there). You can’t blame him for having moved on. He’s built a career on his own, and you can’t expect him to just drop everything.
On another note, who could ever replace him? Who could sing the Immigrant Song like he could? No one, that’s who, especially not freakin Myles Kennedy.
IF they do tour without Robert I wonder what they’ll call themselves. Alter Zeppelin anyone?

No, not “Fuck you Plant.” Fuck you Jimmy Page for not doing a damned thing except try to resell, rehash, and now rebrand Led Zeppelin since like 1988. (Come on - look at Coverdale/Page that was just pathetic. And the tour with The Black Crowes was fun but seriously all he did was play Zeppelin numbers. It’s like Jimmy Page ceased to exist as a productive artist after Led Zeppelin.) As for Plant, like his stuff or not, at least he has actually pursued an active and evolving career for himself; consistently remaining relevant as a creative being. I don’t blame him for not wanting to spend the rest of his life basking in the shadow of something that has been dead for almost thirty years now. Honestly, ask yourself if you would appreciate having people only want you to do the same shit you did when you were a kid and dismissing you for anything you did since while bashing you for refusing to go against your own life’s path - and then claim to be your fans.
If Page, Jones and Bonham actually wanted to make some new music and Robert was saying no just to be a dick, I could see some reasoning for the anger from the fans. But if all these guys want to do is make a sorry excuse just to tour as a Led Zeppelin retrospective tribute to yesteryear, then I heartily support his decision to maintain his personal and artistic integrity. The one off concert was an honorable and worthy event in tribute to their friend and to the legacy of the band - but a tour without any real precedent aside from the sole fact that it’s a reunion is in my opinion a stale and morose venture. It’s just one more piece of irrefutable evidence that Jimmy Page is a washed up old coot by his own choosing. Think of all the new music and interesting projects he could have been involved in over these many years. So i say enough with the Plant bashing. Make with the Page bashing - he’s the guy who hasn’t given the fans anything to listen to except the same old crap since 1988.
