Details of how you can get into the band’s Finsbury Park show inside!

Rage Against The Machine’s victory show to celebrate their triumph over The X Factor in the battle for the UK Christmas number one has finally been announced. The show will take place on June 6th in Finsbury Park.

A statement from the band reads:

“Rage Against The Machine reached the Christmas No. 1 spot thanks to those that bought the single and now the massive ‘Thank you’ gig that was promised is finally here!

“On Sunday 6th June, Finsbury Park will host the victory party to end all victory parties!
The victory marks a stunning upset against the heavily favoured X Factor single. Following the massive Facebook campaign to make the 1992 track top the Christmas charts, RATM will play a concert in celebration of this incredible triumph.

“You spread the word, you swayed the outcome, you made music history! “

You can register for tickets at The Rage Factor. Registration closes this Sunday (February 14th) and you can register for free Rage Against The Machine tickets here!

omg best news ever….rage gig + download festival the same week set = awesomeness

Spanner

ALREADY REGISTERED!!

Middle of London….typical. If it was at Donington then at least that’s somewhat in the middle so it’s good for everybody

Michael

Registered! Can just hope I get a ticket now. I can imagine many people won’t travel to London (luckily I live there). And some will assume they will be sold on for loads..but they already have that problem covered! What with the picture and all. I imagine they’ll play Download. Can just hope I get a ticket now!

Hmm free gig organised by Andy Copping, the Download organiser………..Download starts just 5days after……..

Insincere Dave

I’m really pleased this gig is in London as it’s nice and central for everyone in the UK!!

A big well done to all involved with the organisation of this event!

Anyone have any idea on how big this Finsbury Park is capacity wise? I’m unfamiliar with it being a Northern type :P

nice to see they’re going the glastonbury route with tickets.

Slightly inconvinient, but it stops fuckers making a mint on ebay

Destroying Dignity

don’t care, especially given the fact its a week before download so they will probs be there too now. i dont mind the band but i was over them a good decade ago so if they do play download and there’s nowt better to watch..on it!

Nice, fat chance of actually getting a ticket though.. still, gona register and I might be lucky! would love to be there, I don’t live far away at all… and i’d give my left foot to see RATM.

Ahhh shit, really sucks that – it’s a day before one of my A level exams! Thing is I was completely involved in this campaign aswell, bought the track three times, donated to shelter, spread the word, was getting all excited about this free gig :( Congrats to those who get the tickets anyway, hope y’all enjoy it.

Hopefully they’ll play in the UK again some other time.

destroying dignity do me a fav shut the fuck up you dick head, rage one of the biggest bands of all time, if you dont care then why waste your time saying that on here??

Destroying Dignity

elson do me a favour, grow some bollocks and say that to my face! rage aren’t that big, weren’t that good and the fuss about them is ridiculous. they fucked off a decade ago and rightly so

i said i dont care about the free gig cos they will probs be at download and if ive got nothing better to do i’ll watch them.

elson come back when youve got something better to argue with than ‘this band beat xfactor so must be good’ argument

Destroying Dignity

every time i comment on this site i try to give an honest opinion of music, good or bad, and now some little fuckhole takes offence cos i’m not that fussed about an RATM gig 200 miles from home? honestly, kids today need to grow a sac and take it on the chin!

hear hear

i also agree that rage are very overated

@Destroying Dignity – you make a valid point. elson, there was no need to jump the gun so much. Everyone is entitled to their views.

Anyway, i registered tonight. Looking forward to this, hopefully i can get a ticket. It’ll be a welcome relief from revision before my exams start! :)

Joebass

Registered and waiting!! But working all week, Bad timing!!! Loved RATM for almost 10 years now, and besides I’d never turn down a free gig unless it was some unbelievable wank!

@Destroying Diginity you make a fair point, if they do play Download now it will kinda be a bit “oh… ok” nothing big. But I think asking someone to say it to your face on a forum is a bit pointless, unless your gonna provide said person with your address. By all means do cause I’d be up for having these debates in person! I think it’d be a really good night if Metal Hammer put on a massive piss up for everyone so we could all just sit around and talk about music!!! Anybody else like that idea? cause if you do lets demand they do it!! :-D

Joebass

Could be called the Great Metal Debate, and they could replace “The Big Debate” (or whatever its called) on sundays on BBC with the Metal talk to annoy the religious types!

this will be a disaster. system of a down tried doing this once and it started a riot. hmmm, maybe a riot won’t be such a disaster after all.

Divided

Destroying Dignity – I’m starting to like you!

RATM were never that amazing, they are in no way one of the biggest bands in the world and their comeback shows the other year were fucking terrible! I worked the festivals the year they played and saw them many times over the summer. Every time I was very underwhelmed.

king of heavy metal

have registered never saw the band live when they were about before like a few songs wouldn’t mind seeing them play bulls on parade live for free so alls good

@Divided

I understand that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but RATM were incredible at Reading!

Destroying Dignity

@divided i aim to please!

@joebass i was just pissed off cos elson called me a dickhead simply for expressing my views. its very easy for someone to make insults from behind a computer screen! my logic was also perhaps blurred by too many afternoon beers lol

as for a great metal debate, at this summers festivals i’ll be easy to find, no doubt ranting on about the virtues of Burzum’s new album while decrying the rise of floppy fringe emo-dance-pop! or chanting ‘dimebag’ til 6a.m…..its all good!

blatantly playing download

registered! free but yeah, only train fare to London to pay for!

what a stupid registration, plus how am i supposed to get to england for a gig, not every1 lives in england.:(

Why is the reg so much bollocks?

Met'llerr!

day before my maths gcse… and the fact that i almost certainly wouldnt get a ticket, and certainly wouldnt get someone i know whos over 18 getting one as well.

damn.

krasherr

^^^^^^
same here

Danny Boy

They wont do download, not headline anyway there are much bigger and better bands to headline it!

Met'llerr!

this kinda feels like the whole dr pepper/guns and roses deal… brilliant in theory, but should have been left as a “what if?”

bit of a slap in the face to all the people who supported them.

this is a bit of a kick in the teeth they could have fucking toured the uk and charged for it we would have considered it a good follow up to the campaign not that we should have had to do something like that to get them to tour here (they only reformed
like what 2 three years)

COMMUNIST FLISK

I live in birmingham, so london isn’t TOO bad for me, however, if bands do ONE gig in the uk, why can’t they make it the birmingham academy or birmingham NEC/LG arena? Not saying this because i’m from brum but because, if you think about it, birmingham is pretty much the centre of the uk, that would be fairer on all the people who supported thier campaign.

If you don’t live in the UK then I’m guessing you didn’t support the RATM for Xmas No.1

The Real Ollie

I’m a big RATM fan, and this gig will only cost us like £15 on the train to London!

I just hope me and my friends get tickets, with this lottery system they’re doing.

Man, everyone singing Killing in the Name would be fucking epic. I hope they wear Xfactor judge masks or something, that’d be funny

bullet in the fred

1) probably playing download, but i can’t go to download anyway because of exams :/

2) i like ratm, always have done. but that’s my opinion, Destroying Dignity is entitled to think whatever, even if he’s clearly wrong…

3) why make it “under 17s must be accompanied by an over 18″? nobs.

4) finsbury park is a piece of piss to get to, that’s why it’s there.

5) i would laugh so hard if they don’t actually play killing in the name…

Destroying Dignity

cool, a kid is now telling me my musical opinion is ‘clearly wrong’. i’m not saying i don’t like RATM, just overrated. any organised campaign could’ve got any song to number 1 to rebel against xfactor!

maybe when you get beyond puberty you’ll be able to appreciate that other people disagreeing with your musical taste doesn’t make them wrong, its purely a matter of opinion.

BlakNo1

Burzum suck donkey balls.

BlakNo1

…and that’s my opinion.

Destroying Dignity

@BlakNo1 fair enough! its quite possible that varg vikernes loves to chow down on donkey testicles…who knows?!

The age limit thing sucks. At 16 you can have a job-how can they not let you into a show like this on your own(or even with other 16/17 year olds for that matter)? Some over 18s should come forwards and pair up with under 17s and pretend they’re going with them.
Also, it shouldn’t be in London-it should have been more central like in the north of england.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
