@ Steven, for me its nothing personal against Joe, yes he might have a good voice and just won the X-Factor, and I say congratulations to him. and he will still enjoy his success if he gets to number one or not.

The problem I have and the reason why I am backing RATM for number One is Simon Cowell is manipulative, timing the end of the show so his new signing will have a karaoke cover single out to cash in on the sheep who will no doubt flock to buy it. This undermines the other artists who write their own songs, have paid their dues touring and fighting their way to the top. Plus it would be nice to see a great song at Number one and not a horrible song that everyone will forget

As said above, unless the download costs 40p or over then it won’t count towards the charts so the 29p lark won’t help anyone.

However, as much as I would love to see RATM at no.1 for Christmas who’s to say that XFactor aren’t doing a similar thing and encouraging everyone to buy their song rather that Rage?

Is it possible to get evidence that the 29p version will not go towards the charts because I already got it at that price but if it will help I will happily buy it at the higher price as well

Sony will indeed be benefitting regardless of who wins BUT…

If RATM gets to No.1 for Xmas, it will finally break the mould for the last 4 years of X-factor assuming they have an automatic right to that No.1 spot for Xmas.

RATM wrote their own bloody music, played their own instruments (and had some of the finest basslines I’ve heard in a long time – just my opinion there).

The point is we can prove that we don’t want mediocrity or production-line karaoke covers. It’s like an online version of when Iron Maiden got to No.1 with “Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter”. Not Iron Maiden’s finest track but it did show that not all people want to listen to pop music.

Further to all this, the facebook group has off our own back also donated £25 000 to the homeless charity Shelter. OK so proceeds of sales of X-factor are said to go to charity too, but don’t think for one second that Simon Cowell will be personally shelling out for it.

Not once has the group said it is out to get Simon Cowell as a personal vendetta: its the principle of X-factor we’re so fed up of. Nor do we want to make life a misery for Joe the X-factor winner. The truth is if he is THAT TALENTED then he will last a long time – say like Will Young did (not my cup of tea but he had more staying power than other reality show winners).
