I assume they’ll be at Download. They’ve been asked the last 6 years to headline, if I recall correctly.

I don’t think they’ll be a Download – as it has already been said that Download is going all old school again next year – Van Halen, Metallica and others were rumoured.

Therefore, i think they should, and probably will play Sonisphere on the Saturday – and Iron Maiden playing the Sunday.

Download deserve them more, having been begging them to play for years. But Sonisphere could get them if they offer more money. Subbing Maiden? Would be the Soni way.

Plus, there’ll probably only be one day of classic rock again as opposed to the whole 3 days, PLUS havn’t Metallica been over here more than enough times lately?

They healdined Soni this year, headlined Reading/Leeds last year, played Webley two nights in a row in 07, and headlined Download in 2006!
I’m not badmouthing them at all, but usally there’s quite a gap in years if a band headlines Download/Donnington more than once.

Or at least not in recent years, so there’d be room for them AND a classic rock headliner or two, but knowing Download there’ll be one classic band headlining one day, and one or two more modern day bands headlinging too like 2007/08.

Can’t decide whether this would be fabulous or god-awful. Rammstein fully deserve a headliner slot at a festival like Download or Sonisphere, but both festivals are so horrible that it would be a serious pain in the tits if my only chance of seeing them next year was at one of these. Download is so huge that getting anywhere near the band is nigh on impossible – I’m an old woman, and I can’t spend 10 hours hanging onto the barriers at the front any like I could 20 years ago. Sonisphere was slightly less hideous but what twat decideed to put the stage at the top of a hill – nice clear sightlines for the audience there, not. Holding out for Metaltown in Gothenburgh for a much better festi experience (so long as they get the toilets sorted).

(Me)- Metallica played the live earth gig the day before they headlined Wembley so it was two nights back to back.

To have them headline either festival would be amazing! Can’t wait for new album and new tour!!!

See now, Rammstein live is frickin’ awesome. But would the Festival bosses allow the full set? All the pyros, all the explosions, Till chasing Flake around the stage with fuck off big machette or firing a flame throwers out over the crowd… generally all the stuff that makes it a Rammstein show… or would that bastard “health and safety” stick his oar in?

Quite a lot of their pyros are an integral part of the stage so it might not be possible for them to do it all what with the change over of bands during the day.

I’m thinking Download could get them (simply cos of the amount of time they’ve been asking) but I’d prefer to see them headline a smaller venue (like Brixton again) so we’d be guaranteed the full spectacle and you can feel the heat no matter where you are!

To whoever pulled the question about pyrotechniques out of the bag, in 2008 when KISS headlined, they were allowed to use pyro and fireworks, thlihgh I heard they threatened not to play if they couldn’t play.
(oh and they’ve been banned from playing in a city in Germany for using pyro without permission haha!)

Even Limp Bizkit had the odd kaboom at Download this year!

I’ve heard that Rammstein are a bit like that with their displays. I don’t think they would want to tone it down… ( *can* they tone it down?? ) and talking to some mates about it it looks like it’s possible for the pyros and stuff to be protected during the day as they do the set changes so it’s a pissibolity

It would be no problem at all for a full-scale Rammstein production as a festival headline. They are already confirmed for Rock Am Ring so why couldn’t it be done over here in the UK?
I’m almost certain we’ll all be seeing them in the East Midlands next year and it will be the greatest thing ever witnessed at Donington.
I go to Barcelona to see them for the 8th time next month and have a ticket for the 2010 show at Manchester. Rammstein is simply the greatest show on earth and it WILL happen at Download.
