Randy Blythe: “I’ve Got A Lot Of Respect For Gojira”

Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe, who is currently auctioning his Grammy nomination medallion for Myotonic Dystrophy, has been speaking exclusively to Metal Hammer about his love of Gojira.

The Lamb Of God man says: “Chris found them online and he was always telling us ‘you’ve gotta check out this fucking French band’ and I was like, ‘whatever’. I’d heard French punk before. It’s not good.”

“Nobody paid any intention. But one day we went waterskiing and he was playing ‘From Mars To Sirius’ and I immediately became a fan and I started emailing Joe (Duplantier, Gojira vocalist), and we had similar interests, and we met them in Paris and they played with us with Slayer and so we brought them to the States for a run with Machine Head and we’ve been good friends ever since.”

“I’ve got a lot of respect for what they’re about. They blew me away.”
