I got a day ticket for Sunday. Cypress Hill and Blink-182 main attractions. Will probably see Limp Bizkit too, and maybe Foals.
I am certain we will see Cyprus Hill get added to Download – as will SLASH, then we will get the team up so that doesnt bother me too much.
Admittedly would have been cool to see Blink but they will tour heavily and well G&R… i dont care if they are a disgrace now, I have never seen them and I want to hear Night train live desperately!
Fri and Sun are pretty decent. Sat is quite horrific for me, aside from GLA. Gotta remmeber this is Reading – Arcade Fire fit well: songs like “Keep The Car Running”, “Intervention”, “Wake Up”, “The Well & The Lighthouse” will sound awesome at night in front of a huge crowd. Doesn’t matter that they’re not metal, Reading isn’t metal?
Day ticket for Friday for me – Biffy, Lostprophets and QOTSA will be a laugh to see, but it’s all about GNR – who cares if they don’t have Slash, who cares if Axl is the only member left? At least they’re still out there in some shape or form, making music and touring (no matter how slowly they do it)! Admittedly I’m a bit worried about them turning up late, but when you have a 30 song setlist that goes on for almost 3 hours, that’s gotta be worth a look at!
Chinese Democracy was only a terrible album if you compare it to the rest of the back catalogue – musically it’s half-decent, it’s just nowhere near the standards of Appetite and the Use Your Illusion set. Personally, I’m quite excited to see the songs from CD performed live. And with a day ticket being about £75, and 14 bands already announced, that’s just over £5 per band. £5 for GNR? Bargain!
I think for R/L its quite a decent lineup. Personally i’d only go for B182 and the Sunday at Leeds (minus Lostprophets and GnR) but its not that bad. I mean, last year was a lot worse.
I’ve got a day ticket for Saturday at Leeds. Gold Cobra live?!
There are some acts I’d like to see but I’ll stick with my Dahnload ticket and my big, shit eating, “I’m going to see AC/DC and you’re going to see a Guns ‘n’ Roses covers band” grin, thank you very much.
one point i’d like to make, blink 182 weren’t big enough to headline this festival at the height of their popularity (they played there a few years ago) so why is it that after disappearing for 5 years and not releasing any new music suddenly they are big enough to headline? this nostalgia/reformed bands crap has got to stop!
In all seriousness I probably wouldn’t bother with this festival if someone gave me a free ticket! 2008 was rubbish even with Metallica headlining, and this will be no exception. Sure Id like to see Axl singing some old GnR material, but not if it means sitting through the rest of that shit!
gwan limp bizkit. haha..
would just like to thank you for actually mentioning bands like arcade fire and that because if you go over to kerrang they dont really mention the saturday acording to kerrang there is no saturday main stage really!
Got a full weekend ticket for Reading.
Fri: Billy Talent, LostPhrophets, Biffy Clyro, QOTSA, GNR!!!!
Sat: Gaslight Anthem, Dizzee Rascal, Libertines
Sun: All Time Low, Limp Bizkit, Cypress Hill, Weezer, Paramore and Blink 182
A hell of a lot more bands than I liked in last years first announcement, and I loved last year. Bring it on
am i really the only one who thinks this a proper wank line-up? honestly, there isn’t one band i would pay money for to see live. i mean dizzee rascal? for fuck’s sake! have a nice chavfest
@robTHEhun i agree its proper shit, but it always is. i’m not complaining tho, im an extreme metal fan so this festival has no real appeal to me anyway. i just find it hilarious how low lostprophets are on the bill!
ur calling it a chavfest over one band? does that make sonisphere an Emo fest because fightstar are playing..
Childish fool!
in my humble opinion……utter shite
got my ticket way back in last september…very pleased with the lineup overall spesh with GNR, Libertines and Blink…still got no idea who arcade fire are though…
Download? Where’s the arguement?
friday looks alright, but paying so much money for a few decent bands is just insane..
DAHNLOAD FOREVER!
Really strong undercard
Download’s lineup is 3 great headliners, a hell of a lot of repeated bands and piss poor undercard.
Sonisphere for the win though, solid undercard and solid headliners
Will wait till the Lock-Up stage has announced bands before deciding whether to get a Leeds day ticket (though it’ll probably have to be a touted one).
@Destroying Dignity
it is a bit funny about lostprophets, going from headlining download to a shitty afternoon slot at reading/leeds.
see you at bloodstock mate \m/
@ Charlie. fightstar might be a shitty emo band, but at least they still play some sort of rock. the same cant be said about rascal. and just to rub it in, we’ve got maiden, rammstein and slayer, so there you go mate
dude im going to Sonisphere…. Im just saying Reading cant be called a chavfest for one frickin band!
I can’t wait for Sonisphere and going to Reading for the Sunday, should be a sweet Summer!
If they swapped Biffy Clyro and Limp Bizkit, I’d go for the Friday.
I think you all need to grow up really, everyone has there own tastes and preferences so there is really no need to badmouth someone for liking something you don’t.
I personally think all 3 festivals mentioned have a good mix of bands, I’m going to Reading cause i’ve been a Blink fan for 10 years and never got around to seeing them.
But i’ve been to download and it was very good.
I think everyone has done well no matter what festival your going to.
It’s just shite, end of.
Got a ticket for the whole weekend, I can’t wait. GNR, Biffy, QOTSA, Lostprophets, Enter Shikari, Pendulum, Billy Talent, Limp Bizkit, Paramore, Cypress Hill, Dizzee Rascal and then Blink to top it all off? Reading isn’t a metal fest, take your elitist views and fuck off.
Dat’s not metalz!! Haha, I think it’s not looking too bad. I’ll be going to Leeds on the Saturday for Blink, Limp Bizkit and Cypress Hill. The bird will want to see paramore and you me at six (you make me sick) no doubt.
Listen you clahns! Oi you in the back, yes you, i’m talking to you!! anyways, I feel there are about 6 bands there who i’d wanna see but looking at the overall festival i’m finding it quite hard to see who the festival is being aimed at, surely if you love arcade fire et al you’re not going to be a fan of the BT and limp bizkit, no-ones music taste is tht wide and extreme, but if so, they’ve just created the best festival, also, paramore above lb, *cough* fail *cough*
bloodstock > reading
all that needs to be said
got my full weekend ticket: certainly better than last year’s line-up was.
looks like ill be sticking to main stage friday, nme stage saturday and, errrrrr, being hungover on sunday? suppose i might go and see paramore just to get an erection over hayley. and cypress hill/LB could be a laugh.
soundgarden for special guests anyone?
oh, and reading isn’t a metal festival, apart from the lockup stage, which hasn’t been announced… to be honest, im surprised hammer even bothered posting about this!
was thinking about goin, untill i seen this. wot a load of crap! gnr??? axel rose, wot a wank. blink 182? good band 6years ago not big enugh to head line, arcade fire? who the smeg are they? download and sonisphere for me. get decent metal and rock at dowload were there is something for everyone, and sony, madien and rammstien, say no more! redding and leeds is to commercilised, radio 1 and nme has made it cheesy. wots next lilly allen as a replacement headline wen axel rose breaks his nail and refuses to play.??????
@adzzy
yeah, your a complete idiot
well i guess i might be one of those people Matt. going for the Sat and Sun for Libs, Arcade Fire, Blink, LB, Weezer and Klaxons. gotta keep things interesting eh? Also going to Download for some proper rock mind you!
like anyone goes to reading/leeds for the music anyway…
So many teenagers are going to Reading this year, I’m 16 and it seems EVERYONE my age is going, hardly any of these are into rock, well fair few into indie and they were listening to 50 cent ect a couple of years ago, lot of them going for the social…. for my money it’s all about Tsonisphere with the almighty Iron Maiden, SLAYER, Rammstein, Anthrax, Gallows and Fear Factory! I think that outweighs the Reading line up?!
Any chance of Guns N Roses hitting Ireland.
Bit sucky…download ftw!
FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’VE SEEN MORE METAL IN A PLASTIC BAG!
SAVE IT FOR THE KERRANG! CLONES
IT’S UTTER COCK!
Bloodstock every year dont even need to look at the line up since i know it will win
I’m Sorry all i heard was Quotsa and then i looked up and Saw Axl Rose and Friends
@tosh
for fucks sake idiots like you need to shut up. Reading is not a metal festival, it never was.
whether you like the bands at Reading its technically a stronger line-up than the other festivals, its way more balanced. Download wins the metal award, but in terms of a more balanced festivalm reading wins.
Very disappointingly average indie-rock festival overall, Sonisphere is where it’s at! How can you beat the almighty headliners of Maiden and Rammstein?! Certainly not with Arcade Fire, Blink 182 and so-called “G’n'R”…
Happy about Billy Talent, QOTSA, Biffy Clyro, Mumford & Sons, Pendulum, All Time Low and Foals. Still won’t be going though, much rather Download or Sonisphere, love that Rammstein’s headlining
love them or hate them limp bizkit deserves to play a lot higher up on the bill than that. im supised they didnt tell them to shove the offer and play another festival.
i agree with the other guy arcade fire……who?
ah nvm bring on bloodstock
what a croc of shit why is this pop fest even being reported on here wots next fuckin V fest.
Festival full of GCSE and A level students watching cack bands, getting pissed & trying to shag each other silly.
Er, yeah – I’ll give it a miss ta.
DEATH TO ALL BUT METAL!!!
What a load of shit!
Another student pleasing pile of wank of a bill!!!
the saturday at leeds wouldnt be bad, however due to crap lineup at leeds, download will be flooded with people who wouldnt usually go camp with “them fucking moshers!”.
Thank fuck for blood stock!
NOFX, Cypress Hill. and Blink for nostalgia, thats reading for me.
Im going hellfest tho
NECOPHAGIST!
Only 2 bands i want to see ive seen all ready (Billy talent and Lostprophets) Wank over all. Fuck off axl and go cry in to a pie
main stage on sunday in reading looks pretty fucking epic. basically every band would be awesome, wish biffy and lostprophets we’re playing tht day to save me buying the fuckin weekend ticket, ahhh well. pendulum and enter shikari on the NME stage will be amazing, frank turner aswell. aw line up is actually awesome. fuck all the greasy mosher cunts headin to download

@COBHCJQ
hate to point out, but this is a mag and website for greasy mosher cunts. so why dont you take your emo arse and fuck off to kerrang
what a load of shit
reading is a shithole and lives on borrowed time now we have donington and knebworth every year
I love how this website has slowly descended into Metal(and nothing else, because it all fucking sucks) Hammer.
its about time soni or download got NOFX actually. awesome band, amazing at download 03. i think 90s punk is seriously overlooked by these festivals, get me some rancid, bad religion and pennywise on the bill at d/l or soni and i’d be a lot happier.
the lockup stage is probably only decent thing about leeds/reading except when metallica or maiden headline, but guns n roses are seriously shit now. wouldnt go if it was free!
think i’ll just have to do bloodstock exclusively this year
@COBHCJQ
It’s an easy mistake to make, but Metal Hammer is for angsty teenage idiots who think that Lamb of God are the heaviest band of all time.
