Trent Reznor has 100x more influence over music that Manson, and if it wasn’t for Reznor, Manson wouldn’t even exist.

And what do you mean ‘I can tell you who the popes more scared of.’? So to you, if the Catholic Church is afraid of someone, that makes them better musicians?

The Catholic Church are scared of Dan Brown (Auter of ‘The Da Vinchi Code’) but that doesn’t make him a better author than say, JRR Tolkien, does it?

At the person calling themself ‘theverdict’: You’re full of shit. Answer me this, if Manson ‘grew bigger’ than TR then why are Nine Inch Nails putting on one of the largest world tours this year? Why are they taking a band of such classic status as Jane’s Addiction and a revered musician such as Tom Morello on the road with them? And for that matter, why is Trent being critically appraised constantly from every corner of the music industry for being one of the most relevant, versatile, provocative and original artists in today’s music?

I can assure you that the ‘majority’ (whomever that is supposed to mean…) are very well aware of who Trent Reznor is and what he means to the current state of the music world. Next time you feel the need to open your mouth, take a moment instead to think about what you’re saying.

Ive read the book, i know that Renzors influence on his uprising was pretty great but i would disagree that they are bigger than Manson. They may at times be musically better than him (and everything on Eat Me Drink Me) but i would put my house on more people knowing manson.

Yeah sean, you really seem to be giving him respect. The Antichrist through Holy Wood were excellent and the albums before and after have all had their moments, although I will admit that some had a lot more than others.

Well were gonna have to agree to disagree here. Not that it takes anything away from the fact his comments seem to be unprovoked attacks, although the fact that the whole story plus the context of the interview is missing from this article, may have bigged up the situation a little more than it should have been (although at the time the article was shown on here manson releaced some random blogs about stabbing people in the face not the back so it could actually be as big as it states)

Marilyn Manson is a has been. He hasn’t released any good music since 2001.

Wow, this is epic, Reznor slaggin’ off the guy who idolised him! Finally someone else shares my opinion of Manson, he may be a smart guy but he’s also a poser, plus his music just takes the piss – all of it.

since reznor found manson and brought him from obscurity into the light as a star, i would think reznor has the right to say whatever the fuck he wants to about his once prodigy manson. trent has never been one to bash manson in the past, so if he’s doing it now then there must be a good reason.
my problem is this… if somebody thought manson was only “acting” fucked up in the past and not really doing the drugs, then they are the true clown. that dude has been stoned since the late 80’s, but maybe now his ability to cover his ass is slipping.
what trent should’ve said was, manson needs to go take some classes on how to act when he’s trashed on drugs so everybody else can ignore his addictions and let the man make more kickass music. from the looks of it, trent has been working out lately and now maybe he thinks everybody else should be on a health kick like him.
bottom line, trent could bitch and whine like a homo does about everybody else’s addictions, but he also needs to remember how much badass music has been made by musicians completely strung out on drugs, himself included. if i were trent i’d be more concerned about his retirment party. whats the old man going to do now that he’s on the wave goodbye tour and about to see NIN come to an end. manson can handle himself, he’s a big boy.
manson and nin are both great bands, and neither is any better than the other.
and who gives a flying shit about what the pope fears? it’s probably that people like you will run our country someday…. now that is a nightmare.
