Cormac from The Answer took some time out of the band’s schedule supporting Ac/Dc to talk to us about the band’s Download performance! The Answer play the 2nd Stage on Saturday, June 13th.

Follow this year’s Download on Metal Hammer, live as it happens! We’ll be bringing you reviews as they happen, backstage gossip, videos and all sorts of other chat live from Donington! Get yourself involved!

How much are you looking forward to playing this year’s Download?

Cormac Neeson: “Yep, we are really looking forward to playing download again this year. We have been on tour with Ac/Dc for 6 months and it’s been fantastic! The only downside has been that we haven’t had the chance to check out many other gigs, so Download will give us the chance to check out a lot of bands and give us a good dose of metal!”

What’s your greatest Download memory?

Cormac: “We have played download twice before, in 2005 and 2007. I remember our 2007 set being particularly rocking and the crowd being fucking fantastic, but my most enduring Download memories come from 2005, when we were drinking backstage with Brian Marshall of Alter Bridge and we ran out of alcohol. He went to get some more drinks from his dressing room only to find he was locked out, so our bass player Micky took it upon himself to try and climb through the window! It was a tight squeeze and security were in hot pursuit but he managed to get in and out with a fresh bottle of whisky!”

Do you have any surprises plans?

Cormac: “Aye, there’s a couple of songs from the new album that we’ve never played live before which we like to throw into the mix. Also, because of all the new material we’re playing these days, no one show is ever the same, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.”

What’s the pros and cons to playing a festival set?

Cormac: “The festival crowd is always geared up for having a good time. Everybody joins in the party! I can’t really think of any cons, apart from maybe not being able to play for as long as we’d like.”

Describe why people should come and see your set in 5 words.

Cormac: “Beats lying on your ass!”

Download will take place on June 12th – 14th at Donington and will feature sets from Faith No More, Slipknot, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, The Prodigy, Limp Bizkit, Motley Crue, Marilyn Manson, Korn, ZZ Top, Down, Killswitch Engage, Journey, Clutch and many, many more.
