Road To Download: Voivod
Man, can you imagine if this sunshine sticks around long enough for Download!? The idea of watching that many top bands one after another in this heat makes us feel funny in the groin area. *ahem* Anyway, Canadian metal stalwarts Voivod join us on the Road To Download today!
Underground metal legends Voivod will destroy the Tuborg stage on Friday, June 12th. We caught up with vocalist Snake to see what you can expect from this year’s Download set!
How much are you looking forward to playing this year’s Download?
Snake: “We’re very excited. We heard that it’s one of the best. Can’t wait to see what it’s like.”
Have you played before and if so what’s your greatest memory?
Snake: “It is the first time and hopefully it won’t be the last.”
Do you have any surprises or plans?
Snake: “We don’t have much of a plan and that helps creating surprises. Sorry kids, no balloons, no candies, only metal music in your face.”
What’s the pros and cons to playing a festival set?
Snake: “The pros are that you play in front of a larger audience and you get a lot of exposure. The cons are that you usually play a short set and most of the time you don’t get a sound check.”
Describe why people should come and see your set in 5 words.
Snake: “Because otherwise you’ll miss it.”
If you can’t make it to Download this year, Metal Hammer will be on hand to bring you the biggest and best reviews live from Donington as the action unveils! Gill and Beez will also be on hand to blog about all of the backstage shenanigans on the site and on our Twitter and we’ll be bringing you the very best interviews, live from Download! Don’t miss out!
Download will take place on June 12th – 14th at Donington and will feature sets from Faith No More, Slipknot, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, The Prodigy, Limp Bizkit, Motley Crue, Marilyn Manson, Korn, ZZ Top, Down, Killswitch Engage, Journey, Clutch and many, many more.
