Robb Flynn On The First Time The Crowd Sang ‘Davidian’
Dublin, take a bow!
Rob Flynn discusses the band’s first show outside of the US in the latest issue of Metal Hammer.
“I remember the first show that we ever played outside of America was in Dublin,” Flynn remembers. “We had no sound guy, we had no light guy and we were just like, “oh my God we’re going to be horrible.” We came out, we opened with ‘Davidian’, and up until that point I had never even thought of letting the crowd sing the “let freedom ring with a shotgun blast” part because until then no one knew the song, but everyone in Dublin knew it and they sang the whole thing back to us.”
“We were like, “holy shit! That’s fucking awesome!” It’s because of that, that we always let the crowd sing that part. We’d open the bus door and there’d be 100 kids waiting outside our bus. At the point it really kind of hit us.”

They played in Dublin almost two years ago.
I was there that night! Downset (remember them??) opened and then Machine Head came on and blew everyone away. Will never forget the crowd singing that! It was also the first time i saw Slayer live too. Oh, the memories…….!
