Machine Head frontman and all-round heavy metal legend Robb Flynn has spoken out about how Judas Priest have served as one of his main inspirations throughout the years and on their latest classic, ‘The Blackening’.

” Without Judas Priest, we would never have made The Blackening,” says Flynn. “A working title for one of the songs on there was ‘Victim Of Changes 2′ because we had ‘borrowed’ so liberally from that song! It was a homage we were paying to them. Pretty much all modern metal is derived from them. We certainly wouldn’t sound the way we do without Judas Priest.”

“Without Judas Priest we would never have made The Blackening”. Hmm, I seem to recall Robb saying the same thing about Metallica when The Blackening came out. Are the Priest the new trendy band to namecheck now???

The Mark of Zur En Arrh

So Rob Halford and co. are now to blame for that shite album. Can’t hold it against them considering all the amazing stuff Priest have produced i guess.
