There’s a suprise in the Hard Rock category and not too much of a surprise in the Metal category.

The Mars Volta and Metallica emerged victorious at this year’s Grammy awards in both the ‘Best Hard Rock’ and ‘Best Metal’ categorys.

Nominations in the ‘Best Metal Category’ were:

Slipknot – ‘Psychosocial’
Judas Priest – ‘Nostradamus’
Ministry – ‘Under My Thumb’
Metallica – ‘My Apocalypse’
Dragonforce – ‘Heroes Of Our Time’

Nominations in the ‘Best Hard Rock’ category were:

The Mars Volta – ‘Wax Simulacra’
Disturbed – ‘Inside The Fire’
Motley Crue – ‘Saints Of Los Angeles
Judas Priest – ‘Visions’
Rob Zombie – ‘Lords Of Salem’

Lame, Priest should have won both categories hands down.

If you ask me its a pretty bias opinion for the metal category. If a Metallica gets nominated then they’re almost always guaranteed to win
