Sepultura Reunion Dismissed
Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser pours cold water on any hope for a Sepultura reunion.
Following Max Cavalera’s assessment that Sepultura aren’t what they used to be, Sepultura’s Andreas Kisser has reiterated that a reunion of the band’s classic line-up is not on the current agenda.
“Two years ago, people were pressuring us for a reunion, since it was the age of reunions — from The Police to Anthrax,” Kisser told Noisecreep. “So I think people felt we might be ready to do something like that also. That is not the case. We are focused on what we are doing. We have a new drummer, and we recorded the album with him for first time. And we are in a great moment and the intention is build for the future and not be slaves to the past.”
Rather more hopefully though, he did go on to add: “You never know. This stuff can happen sooner or later. Who knows? Maybe never? Let’s see. We’re focusing on what we do right now.”

Think I’m gonna stick with Cavalera Conspiracy & Soulfly. That’s the closest thing we’re gonna get to the proper Sepultura
I saw Cavelera Conspiracy at PinkPop festival in Holland last year – they played Roots and Attitude. I’ll stick with those memories.
Wish everyone would stop going on about this….I like Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy but I still love SEPULTURA. Andreas and the rest of the band have released some fucking amazing albums since Max left, I have enjoyed every album from Sepultura and the new Album A-LEX is awesome! Against, Nation, Roorback, Dante were all brilliant albums too! Stop Living in the past! I am just thankful that they are all still involved in music and we now have 3 really great Metal bands.
In the end its all a matter of opinion, I prefer Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy, Sepultura might have produced good albums after Max Departed but I dont happen to like any of them, thats not to say that they are bad just not to my taste but they should have just carried on under a different name.
we don’t need a Sepultura reunion. seeing as Cavalera Conspiracy played about 10 Sepultura songs with a stronger band lineup at download last year, why bother? the current sepultura are nice friendly guys who try hard but have really lost their way. shame really. as for soulfly i think they are hit and miss, but maybe when roadrunner inevitably release a best of soulfly we’ll then get a classic album!
hey assholes Sepultura are fuckin great, we already have CC so we get two great bands instead o one.
Prefer Cavalera Conspiracy and Soulfly.
Don’t get me wrong, Sepultura have released soem decent albums with Derrick Green, but the real magic was with Max, and so logn as he’s playign the classic Seps with either of the aforementionned bands, I’m more than happy with that (Y)
I prefer Sepultura with Derrick to anything that Soulfly have released. That’s not to say that every Sepultura release post-Max is great, only better than Soulfly’s back catalogue.
With the revolving door policy in Soulfly it is only recently that they’ve actually made cohesive albums. Max’s ego and apparent inability to collaborate with his bandmates has led to solid mediocrity. ‘Dark Ages’ and ‘Conquer’ are okay but what about the filler stacked special guest fests that were the previous four albums! You can’t say ‘Son Song’ and ‘Fly High’ are classic tracks. What about the abysmal intrumentals! And how many times can Max recycle the riff to ‘Eye for an Eye’!
Cavalera Conspiracy too! One competent album that is viewed through the rosiest tinted spectacles. Come on, it was just Soulfly odds and ends with a better drummer. Does Ig[g]or write the hooks, lyrics or anything? No. He is a phenomenal drummer so his contribution was basically phoning-in a performance while Max just recycled the same old hooks and same old lyrics. It was almost a parody of itself.
‘Inflikted’ is nowhere near as good as ‘Dante XXI’ or ‘A-Lex’. Additionally ‘Inflikted’ is not in the same ballpark as classic Sepultura. It’s not even as good as Nailbomb.
Andreas and co. should just abandon the Sepultura name to prevent the idiotic aggrandisement of Max Cavalera’s ’solo’ material by bitter fans. He is a legend but simply saying everything he does is golden and everything new Sepultura does is crap is tiresome and untrue.
you dont no wat your sayin you no sepultura were better with max stop tryin to rebel lol. however i do think derrick is a great frontman and sepultura now,are better thn soulfly

What future Kisser? You have no future. Maybe a reunited Sepultura could make another masterpiece like Heaven And Hell just did. Nothing you are doing now is going to break new ground, or be a significant part in music history. But hey you can keep putting out half assed music if you want to… what ever.
Kisser is a very talented musician both in Sepultura and in his side projects, he really embraces music and culture in his guitar playing. Hi solo album is outstanding too.
I think Sepultura have more of a voice and and able to keep things fresh without forgetting the sound and place that they came from. Derrick Green is a brilliant vocalist and frontman ( the man is a giant) and his lyrics along with Andreas are intelligent and thought provoking.
Soulfly are also great don’t get me wrong. Its just Sepultura did not end when Max left and they are stronger now more than ever with the new drummer. Oh and Paulo Jr is the fucking don!
Anyway, DILIGAF
im not sure the reunion will ever happen, max has done alright for himself (without being spectacular) whereas sepultura’s albums are getting worse reviews and lower sales each time. and thats a fact. if a reunion was to happen its gonna be the cavaleras calling the shots not andreas. of course u cant rule out a big wad of cash being a factor too i suppose!
as for DANTHRAX calling us all assholes for simply stating our opinions on sepultura’s future, go and play with an electric fence u fuckstick!
