The ever-enigmatic Serj Tankian has taken the decision to begin writing a new stage musical.

Collaborating with ‘Spring Awakening’ man Steven Sater, the pair will work on a new play based on the classic Greek tragedy ‘Prometeheus Bound’.

Tankian, who already has eight songs finished for the project, told Spinner.com “”It’s got this amazing ancient Greek verse thing going on with this cool electronic hyperspace rock. It’s unlike anything you’ve heard.”

Joining Tankian’s enthusiasm, Sater said “It’s going fast now, we did a reading and it went really well. We’ll go quickly. We’ll probably do it out of town, maybe in Boston, and then see about maybe bringing it to New York. And there’ll be a record.”

A launch date is yet to be announced for the ‘Prometeheus Bound’ play or the record. Serj Tankian will be heading to Britain to take part in this year’s Reading And Leeds festivals from August 22nd-24th.
