Shawn Crahan Speaks About Each Slipknot Album Cycle
Shawn Crahan has spoken exclusively to Metal Hammer about each Slipknot album’s touring cycle and how he is now looking out for himself and his own enjoyment.
“This cycle is all about me,” said Crahan. “I’m talking for me, I’m not talking about the other 8 people in the band because that’s not fair. I can tell you the work that I’ve done on each cycle. In ’98, it was about being true to my family, work for nothing, sacrifice everything including blood, piss and shit and flesh, time, sleep, safety hope and know that it can all disappear and that’s how we started.”
“On the second record, against our will, I will try to destroy you and I’m talking about from within. If you try to take away what I need for my family, I’m coming for you. Iowa was bad news.”
“Third record was about memory,” adds Crahan. “Things happened that I thought could never happen actually started happening. That was good, that was nice on the last record cycle.”
“Now I know me and people are going to see a part of me they’ve never seen before and I’m going to do what I want to do and nobodoy is going to stop me. That doesn’t mean I’m going to hurt anybody, that doesn’t mean that anybody’s going to be mowed over or that they can’t have their way but I’m going to have what’s mine.”
