Defenders Of The Faith II is just around the corner and we spoke to Dimmu Borgir guitarist Silenoz about the metal tour of 2009! Get your tickets here!

Dimmu Borgir, along with Unearth, Five Finger Death Punch and co-headliners Lamb Of God, are gearing up for our stellar Defenders Of The Faith II tour and don’t forget that you can be a part of the action by writing for Metal Hammer and winning a year’s subscription to the magazine if you’re going to the shows in Birmingham, Glasgow or London. Find more details here.

Here’s what Silenoz had to say about one of the finest bills in recent memory.

Do you enjoy being part of a tour like Defenders Of The Faith II?
Silenoz: “Very much so, yes. It’s healthy that you play with bands like Lamb Of God and Unearth, it keeps you on your toes for the whole tour because you know that if you have a bad night, these bands won’t. You can’t rest or play safe because you don’t want to be overshadowed and those bands will do that to you if you are not careful. It’s good for the people coming to the show, all the bands will have to be on the top of their game.”
You’ve toured with both Lamb Of God and Unearth before, right?
Silenoz: “Yes, we took Unearth out on the first US tour for the latest album. Their show is always energetic and they got the crowd pumped up every night and we have a lot of respect for those guys and Lamb Of God are just as good. It’s exciting to be a part of a tour like this, for sure.”
Is there going to be a lot of healthy competition on Defenders?
Silenoz: “I guess so but I don’t really see it as competition. We are all flying the flag for heavy music and in these dark economic times, you have to put on a show that people will remember and really want to come out and see and we’ll do that. There are great bands on this tour and it is going to be a big thing for us.”
Defenders Of The Faith 2 will be co-headlined by Lamb Of God and Dimmu Borgir and will also feature Unearth and Five Finger Death Punch. The tour will call at:
11th February – Bristol Academy
12th February – Birmingham Academy
13th February – Manchester University
14th February – Brixton Academy
15th February – Glasgow Academy
