Slash Defends Fergie

Perhaps it’s because Fergalicious definition makes them boys go loco. We’ll get our coats.
Slash has defended Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie (Fergie Ferg to her mates) and her performance on the recently revamped version of ‘Paradise City’ (check that out here).
Writing on his Twitter, Slash has said: “Until now, not too many people have heard Fergie sing rock & roll but she sings it better (than) most dudes I know. She’s a screamer at heart.”
Slash is currently working on his debut, self-titled album, which will be released next year in a unique tie-up with Classic Rock. The full details are here.

Well i liked it, but i like many styles of music so maybe i’m more open to interpritation than a solid metalhead… and it’s the first time i’ve heard her sing a non-pop vocal style. Admittedly though, she’s definately not the best singer live!
I also thinks it’s pretty cool that Slash has tried something different to G’n'R, Slash’s Snakepit and Velvet Revolver… he’s proved he can do that style, this is a genuine attempt at another genre altogether.
I agree Alan. Like I said in the other thread about this, I actually think she sounded better than Axl did on the original because she had all of the power and range but lacked the annoying whiney naselness he has. I’m not saying that I think he should go in that direction, but there’s nothing wrong with mixing it up and having a bit of diversity is there? Glad I’m not the only one on here!
I think part of the reason is because it’s covering ‘that’ song. If it was a new song with Slash feat. Fergie Ferg, then there probably wouldn’t be as big a backlash as there has been.
I too like many varying styles of music and IMHO, but it didn’t really gel with me – even though she’s got a top notch set of lungs. I’d be very interested to hear something else between the two though, which would probably be a better indication of her talent.
Fergie reigns on the new paradise city. Best thing about it. Watch the live vids of her doing Heart’s “Barracuda” and Sweet Child O Mine with Slash. She fucking sings while doing cartwheels. Would you catch Axl doing that? No.
well i thought it was pretty good and i can certianly think of two things i like about Fergie……
lol
Most people were giving Fergie mad props (thats what the kids say, right?) for doing a good job singing.
Cypress Hill seemed to be the problem for me and I like them, just not then. Maybe if they were all about the ‘brownstone’ rather than the weed they would have added some rock ‘n’ roll swagger to the song, but no… they spoilt it. End of!
maybe she sing better than axel rose
:P:P . muahahhahaha.
but still she is hot.

Cypress Hill are the main offenders. Stupid hippity-hop snare drums with absolutely no vocal personality.
Fergie holds her own quite admirably. Maybe if it was just the original arrangement of ‘Paradise City’ with Fergie singing it would be good but Cypress Hill ruin the verses.
i like the original but this one is good cypress hill ruined it fergie can hold her own against the master of guitar saul hudson a.k.a slash
we go to wait and see what she will contribute to the album
Lets be honest it pretty much sounded more rocking than the whole of the “new” “Guns ‘n’ Roses” album
When i first heard this, i was like. wheres fergie? but holy cow, she does a good job.
The things i like;
The stronger guitar (obviously from the more modern recording systems)
The fact fergie does well with the whole feel of the original vocals. I like it!!
My dislikes;
Why, why, why. Cypress Hill absolutely rape this track. a fuckin’ disgrace in my opinion…
7/10
Dude, Black Eyed Peas should fucking split. It’s clear their singer outtalents that shit.
its just whiney American kids complaining about her appearance on the song. But it always is. Alot of Americans (not all) are so much more judgemental and narrowminded with this kind of thing.
Everyone with more than one brain cell can see shes got a great voice and does realy well on this song.
Its weird seeing comments on Metalhammer praising Fergie!!!?? But she totally deserves it.
She needs to start a rock band. Imagine The Fergie Band at download?! hahaha
I liked it all apart from Cyprus Hill.
