Slayer Postpone UK/European Shows
Slayer forced to postpone their upcoming UK/European run. Rescheduled dates inside.
It’s with great sadness (seriously, we’re gutted) that Metal Hammer must report that Slayer have had to postpone their upcoming UK and European shows. A full statement from the band reads:
It is with immense disappointment that Slayer must postpone its UK and European tour that had been set to kick off on November 18 in the UK, and take the band on 19 dates through Europe, ending on December 17 in Germany. The tour will be rescheduled to kick off on March 7 in Manchester, England (complete itinerary is below).
Vocalist/bassist Tom Araya has been under the care of a specialist for a back injury, and while he has already made substantial improvement, he is continuing on with doctor-prescribed treatment.
“Right now,” said Slayer’s manager, Rick Sales, “our main concern must be the full and permanent recovery of Tom, so we have decided to clear the calendar and give him the extra time he needs to concentrate solely on good health.”
Last week, Slayer announced the postponement of it’s east coast “Canadian Carnage” co-headline tour with Megadeth; those dates will be rescheduled in February 2010.
The new UK/European schedule is;

well at least i might have chance to get a ticket now but hope tom gets back on his feet it would be a real shame if slayer were forced to end there carers but i have a sad feeling that it might be there last uk tour

That’s a shame. I wanted to go anyway, but couldn’t because of lack of money, but I guess at least this way I’ll be able to.
Nooooo gutted I was going to see them on the 20th as well, oh well… Hopefully Tom will have a speedy recovery and be ok.

It kinda sucks that The Haunted cancelled their tour to do this, which has now been postponed, but oh well.
Can’t fault slayer for this either, I’d rather them postpone and let Tom get better rather than possibly make it worse
Well, that’s a massive dissapointment…Hoping he gets well again, but there is one good thing about it. The manchester date is now the first of their european tour, and is therefore likely to be the most awesome.
So the haunted cancelled their own tour for nothing then??

It’s a shame the tour will be delayed until next year and I home Tom recovers soon. BUT I have to feel sorry for The Haunted as I wanted to them at the beginning of this month and they cancelled to support Slayer and now I won’t be able to see them either. I hope they come back to support Slayer next year, which would be awesome.

Pretty gutted. But then again March will come by quick. Plus I had Dio, Shadows Fall/Five Finger Death Punch and Motorhead the same week as Slayer. So that helps a bit!
