Slayer Vs Peter Andre: Cast Your Vote!
Support Metal Hammer at the Maggie Awards as we go head to head with Peter Andre. Oh, and Barack Obama, Avatar, and some soap stars on the cover of the Radio Times.
The Maggies are the awards to recognise the best magazine covers in the last year, voted for by you the public, and Hammer have been nominated. The Maggies liked our Slayer cover for what Hammer art editor James Isaacs called “a cover that in true Metal Hammer style shocked, impressed, and disgusted.”
There are 135 covers, 8 categories, 9 judges… and only 5 magazines per category made it through to the shortlist. And because it’s a public vote we’d like to see our fellow metalheads defend the faith by voting for us! It’s Slayer vs Andre! Vote here

the aundre one is a joke
the avatar one is…nice… nothing special
the obama one…is actually a little artsy but not my style….
But the slayer one is a fucking work of art,
one of my favorite covers!
I currently have it on my wall!!

Epicness, your cover was awesome! Actual effort and it was actually thought about not just “Ooh lets put famous peeps on the cover”… the avatar one was quite good I suppose but nothing worth remembering
Not a massive Slayer Fan, but that cover is fantastic. The others aren’t very good at all. I’d say the Barack Obama ones pretty classy. But the Peter Andre one? Really? Its just a front shot of him on a white background. What’s outstanding about that?
Once when I was DJ-ing, I decided to remix The Cannibal Corpse classic, Skull Full Of Maggots into Peter Andre’s Mysterious girl. Everyone gave me odd looks when I put the Peter Ondre “Hit” on first then as he went “Ooh oooh ooh ooh Mysterious Girl I want to make- (Metal Nasties *&£$!!!) – To You”.
The Barman who was pouring a pint at the bar opposite me sliped in shock and smashed glass and beer went everywhere.

I find Peter Andre a lot less offensive than most pop “artists”, but come on, that cover has nothing going for it other than having him on it.
