Slayer picWe spoke to Slayer’s Dave Lombardo about Tom Araya’s back surgery.

Slayer vocalist/bassist Tom Araya had to cancel ‘Canadian carnage’ dates with Megadeth, Machine Head and Suicide Silence to undergo surgery on his back. Hammer spoke to Dave Lombardo yesterday:

“He’s recovering extremely quickly and really well,” says the Slayer drummer. “He is just moving forward and doing all the treatments and post operation stuff that he has to go through. He’s doing good.”

At the time of the cancellations Kerry King said:

“What is foremost in our minds right now is that Tom do whatever he needs to to get this taken care of. While all four of us are disappointed that we won’t be able to see through all of our commitments set for the next few weeks, the most important thing is Tom’s health. We thank the fans in Canada and here in L.A., the Megadeth camp, and everyone associated with ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ for their understanding. We look forward to seeing you all soon.”

Faster than a bullet
Terrifying scream
Enraged and full of anger
He’s half man and half machine
Rides the metal monster
Breathing smoke and fire
Closing in with vengeance soaring high
He is the Painkiller
This is the Painkiller
