I know it's not on any of those albums, but I freakin love Gemini and it's slow melodic groove. That song always reminded me of their older work, if they go that direction I'll be cool wit it.

I'd love the new album to be up there with Reign and Seasons but I'm not getting carried away. The "new" song they played at Hammy Apollo last year did not impress me at all.

Im with you there Skumbo. When Slayer do fast they do fast great (Raining Blood anyone?) but then, so do dozens of other bands (most recently been impressed by Eville). What makes Slayer really the top band in 'heavy' metal for is writing slow paced, groove laden, evil bastard sounding pieces of music.

Sweet. I hope it the classic we all want. The only problem is every band says there new album is up there with the old stuff or back to the roots blah blah but they never are. I can only hope they are right.

Seasons has plenty of melody. And it shits all over the rest of their 90s output, so I have no fear.
SSSLLAAAAYYYYUUURRRGGGHHH!!! (Can't believe no-one has said that yet)

Agreed, Merk. Me and a mate were having one of those conversations that can only happen when beer is involved - what's the greatest Slayer song ever written? Pretty pointless debate, as you can imagine, and there was a lot of arguing going on. But the one thing we did agree on was the fact that we both felt that the "slower" stuff was the best (songs like "South Of Heaven", "Seasons...", etc...). The 100mph balls-out stuff is pretty nuclear but for me it's always going to be the more melodic/groove tunes that rings my bell.

(Slayer and Megadeth touring together?? I'll have some of that!!)
