Slipknot have announced that they are to play this year’s Download festival on their official website.

Slipknot have confirmed that they will headline the Saturday night (June 13th) of this year’s Download festival on their official website. The date has subsequently been removed from the tour page but we’d wager it will be back there on Monday, February 9th.

Both Heaven & Hell and Slipknot have self-confirmed through their official websites with a full announcement expected this Monday.

Monday will see both Slipknot and, according to Thrash Hits, a Metallica/Linkin Park headlined event both being announced. See who we expect to be announced for both festivals and read why we think it’s a massive year for Download.

Download have also spoke about Faith No More and Limp Bizkit for potential performances as well as the first performance from Manowar in more than a decade. Hear our revealing interview with Download Festival organizer, Andy Copping.

Read why we think Slipknot deserve their Download headline slot.

One of the greatest live bands on the planet, just a shame about the amount of dickhead wannabes that turn up to Slipknot gigs! Bring on FNM!

THIS IS INCREDIBLE !
THIS IS AWESOME !
ONE OF THE BEST BANDS OF ALL TIMES !

Sorry to bring the mood down guys, but when I look at the site, there’s nothing about Download at all

There’s no date for the 13th June

I followed the link above, and it’s a list of tour dates which quite clearly doens’t include Download

It’s been removed, Callum. It was there yesterday morning.

One would presume they had their botty spanked over it being there.

Well I’d say it’s evident they’ll be at Download, because between the 9th and 14th June they have o dates posted, and they’re doing practically every other Summer Euro fest AND they had to cancel Reading/Leeds so why would they miss out the chance to do the Summer fest they were meant to do last year?

Mike Petchey i bet when slipknot started u was one of the wannabe dickheads lol, am stoked for download will be 25 years of me listening to metal rolling into 1 big festival

I feel much better now, haha

Cheers for the clarification :)

This may have just persuaded me to buy a Download ticket…

However i’ll see if Metallica are announced for Knebworth, if so i may go for just that 1 day.
