I do agree with what Machine Head are saying, they were promised THIRD slot on the MAIN stage. However, isn’t it about the fans? How many fuckin fans were looking forward to seeing them.

this is a story ive heard before, same band, almost same issue. im pleased that they can stick to their morals, and damn right, this band have worked just too damn hard to be pushed aside nowdays.

Hello it says Machine Head would be performing immediately AFTER Limp Bizkit and before NIN and Metallica. First of all whats wrong with MH opening for NIN and Metallica they are superior to MH anyway. Secondly They should play where ever they can for the fans. Duh! Im so sick of bands that complain about what slot they got. There is a lot of other bands that would be happy to play where ever and when ever. They should suck it up and play. They even offered more money thats pretty foolish.
Cause now the fans dont get a show and they dont get paid. I dont see Lamb of God bitching about playing before LB. This whole thing is a crock. There just trying to get some press about not playing with LB. I have lost some respect for MH. THEY ARE NOT TRUE METAL!

Fair play, they stood their ground. I would be gutted if I was going, but even so the way they were treated just wasn’t fair. It’s good to see they don’t take any bullshit. I fucking love this band for this.

This is really annoying. Machine Head, Fear Factory and The Sword all pull out that i wanted to see. Beginning to wonder why i’m driving 500 miles for this one, they should really be offering refunds by now with the amount the line up has changed.

Something odd going on here. What the hell were the promoters thinking putting a last minute addition high up on the main stage? An idiot could have told them that that would piss somebody off. If bands suddenly become available unexpectedly, best thing do do is a ’secret’ slot late on a smaller stage or early on the main stage, a la Download with Metallica and Down a few years back. Getting your head ripped off by Down at 10 in the morning was awesome, and they still drew a huge crowd even that early. The stupid thing is that Stuart Galbraith arranged both of those Downloads and saw how well the ’secret’ slots worked. He clearly chose LB over Machine Head, but I wonder how many fans would choose the same swap? I know I wouldn’t!

Tbh I find MH tedious to watch having seen them support Metallica more than once before. So what? Hopefully they’ll soon disappear back up their own asses, sounds like they’re half way there already

Nice to see Machine Head considered ticket holders in their decision, i’ve been a long time fan of the band ?
I suppose Flynn used immortal phrases in the negociations like “DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM” well your nothing with out US and we are the ones you have pissed off, without our loyalty you would have no place on the bill, NOW SHOW US SOME LOYALTY.

I’m suprised so many people are sticking up for Machine Head here; yes they are vastly superior to Limp Bizkit, but by pulling out they’re just taking a huge dump on all their fans who were going to the festival to see them regardless of where they were playing on the bill.

At Hammerfest the best metal bands were on the second stage as far as I was concerned and I spent much more time there than at the main stage and I wouldn’t care where MH played cos I would see them. I’m sure that goes for all their fans. The fact that they would get longer on the saturn stage would be fantastic- thats what we want MH you playing more time- pleeeeeeeaaaaaaaaase reconsider- take the fucking money…………thats what we paid it for-I got my ticket in Feb cos you- you MFH- were playing MH MH MH………

I’m caught in two minds here – totally pissed about MH pulling out and appreciate their stance but at the same time really gutted about their absence as I was hoping to see them make up for a limp perfromance at the NEC with Metallica.

Either way, ironic that this news breaks on the day my tickets have arrived!

Whether the mighty Machine Fucking Head are defending their contracted rights and true metal or whether they are being immature and stubborn is a matter of opinion, but there can be no doubt that Sonisphere will not quite be the same without them. Most people I know were only looking forward to Metallica more than these guys. Perhaps this means a headline tour will be forthcoming? One can only hope…

LB being added to the bill is just another reason to be fed up with this festival. Thin Lizzy and FF had good reasons, The Sword cancelled too. So long as Metallica, LOG and Anthrax don’t pull out then I will still be happy to go.

Maybe now they will get a decent replacement. Down, perhaps? you didn’t see then acting like divas when they were on at 11am at Download.

I agree with machine head, I mean the had an agreement with the organisers for that slot, and were screwed over practically last minute, I mean yeah their fans will be disappointed but in all fairness machine head have earned the right to at least have their contracts honored. Besides the UK has seen machine head lik 5 times since the blackening came out, so quit whining, us irish have seen them once, in a small venue

I’m a bit divided on this whole issue. I’m a big Machine Head fan, and I think they definitely have a case, they hav been screwed over big time, and they shouldn’t have to roll over and accept it. However I do feel they’re taking it out on the fans. I think a much better protest would have been to come out on stage say ‘Fuck the promoters and fuck Limp Bizkit’ and launch straight into Bay of Pigs, and then watch and smile as LB try to follow them

I can’t believe it, I buy my ticket and the two bands I really want to see pull out. Thanks Fear Factory & Machine Head, I hope the promoters can pull something special out the bag now and make the price of the ticket worth it.

This story sickens me. I am a huge Machine Head fan but it seems to me that Robb Flynn is acting like a baby and throwing his toys out of his gold plated pram.
How about that Machine Head go onstage before Limp Bizkit and blow them off the stage? Or how about the play the second stage and draw the fans away from Limp Bizkit altogether?
I wholeheartedly sympathise with Robb for feeling shafted by being shunted down the bill, but does he not realise that every other band are also being shunted down? How about they all pull out to?
OR how about they spend the time that they WON’T be playing Sonisphere to write a new album? The Blackening was a genre defining album, but isn’t it about time they proved that it wasn’t a lucky shot? Since it was released The Blackening has been usurped by the likes of Lamb of God’s Wrath and even Steel Panthers Feel The Steel(!). And that’s before DevilDriver’s Pray for Villains is released.
It seems as if the follow up to The Blackening is becoming Chinese Democracy part two, and we will be lucky to see another Machine Head release sometime before 2015.
Seriously Robb, stop fucking about and play the gig for the fans that bought overpriced tickets just to see you play.
