Sonisphere ‘Major Announcement’ Still Coming
After announcing 4 new bands today (April 15th), Sonisphere have confirmed that the ‘major announcement’ that they promised is still forthcoming. Read Metal Hammer’s speculation about who could be on this announcement.
A posting on the Sonisphere website reads: “Still in the workings for next week is the major announcement we were talking about last week. It has taken a little bit longer to take all the blue smarties out of the packets than we hoped for so keep hanging onto that cliff. Anyway, two announcements are better than one, twice as many reasons to rumourmonger…”
Who do you think could be on the announcement?
Sonisphere will be headlined by Metallica and Linkin Park and will take place on August 1st – 2nd at Knebworth. Also on the bill will be Nine Inch Nails, Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold, Machine Head, Lamb Of God, Alice In Chains, Mastodon, Anthrax, Airbourne, Thin Lizzy, Killing Joke and The Sword.

Megadeth? They have Metallica and Anthrax. Just need to get Slayer in there and the whole gang is back together. It’s just a shame they have to share the stage with shit like Feeder and Taking Back Sunday.

I am hoping someone like Megadeth also…. time to see more evidence of this ‘quality’ which we are supposed to be getting on the bill. Have to say so far, so disappointing. Apart from the obvious highlights Metallica, AIC, Anthrax and maybe a few others the quality of the lineup is looking somewhat ‘diluted’ compared with Download.
Whatever the announcement is it cant be any more abysmal than Taking Back Sunday

I can’t really see Maiden playing, I think thats just some wishful thinking and also I am pretty certain Tool and Slayer can’t play because they are playing in the US the same weekend..
….So I guess megadeth looks like the most likely choice.

I wouldn’t compleletly discout Slayer. Remember Bulllet For My Vallentine have pulled a couple of dates on the very same tour, to play Knebworth. I know BFMV are more likley to cancel dates etc than Slayer, but it is a thought…

Slayer are on tour with BFMV in the US this summer. BFMV can bring Slayer back with them. And Deicide are very entertaining too!
