Sonisphere Review 2011: Lower Than Atlantis
Hammer scribe Gill predictably loved the set, so he invited YOU to review them. Here’s YOUR review!
I was working 8pm til 8am night shifts at Soni as a steward. I forgot how tired I was when I was watching LTA as they were bloody brilliant. The fact that the bohemia tent was packed full during Lower Than Atlantis’s set, even though Anthrax were playing the main stage, is testament to just how good and well-respected a live band LTA are becoming. With frontman Mike Duce managing to gain full control over his audience, LTA combined both new and old material to present an incredible festival set, leaving many punters only wanting a full headline length show.
Attacking the bohemia stage with their trademark gusto, the guys erased any lingering whiff of early-band caution and produced the weekends’ first sing-along moments, hammering out tunes like ‘Deadliest Catch’ and ‘I’m Not Bulimic’ turned non-believers into LTA converts. With their collection of solid songs and a hefty following, LTA open with one of my fondest sets of the weekend.
The amazing energy they brought to the stage and the size of the sing-along moments were a perfect way to start the afternoon. Not one song seemed dull and everone was having such a good time. Mike Duce had the crowd’s attention at all times. It was one of my highlights of the weekend.
The band made the crowd go wild. I rushed to get to see them and they made the beginning of my day a special one. Intense and loud is what I have to say. They’ve got the tunes and the stages moves sorted, they just need to keep plugging away and they’ll be huge in no time The crowd left wondering just how they’re not bigger than they already are, it surely can’t be long before they’re scaling future bills.
One of the bands of the weekend for me! Just about everything I hoped they’d be really. I was on the barrier for them and loved every minute!
