Machine Head

OK, so it might have been as much of a secret as the fact that Santa doesn’t exist but the bottom line is that Machine Head did take to the stage at Knebworth and, with the fire in his eyes burning like a scene from Apocalypse Now, Robb Flynn lead his troops into ‘Imperium’ and through what was undoubtedly the set of the weekend.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen the Machine Head of old in the live environment but the sheer ferocity of the likes of ‘Ten Ton Hammer’, ‘Old’, ‘Beautiful Morning’ and ‘Struck A Nerve’ (which ignites about 20 circle pits around the arena) combined with the band having a point to prove is a combination that’s nothing short of lethal. The “Machine fucking Head” chants ring louder than just about anything else all weekend and if they came here feeling like they had to reaffirm their standing as one of the most vital bands in metal to anybody, they should consider this job done.

Limp Bizkit

After the fanfare that surrounded their Download performance, Limp Bizkit had a hell of a lot to live up to and it didn’t quite reach those dizzy heights. That’s not to say that Durst’s soldiers weren’t up to the task at hand and, considering the band’s standing amongst the average Lamb Of God/Machine Head/Metallica fan, they could have taken a real bruising but instead they man up and still pull a performance out of the bag.

Hell, you could even argue by the reactions that greeted ‘Nookie’, ‘Rollin” and ‘Break Stuff’ that they even won a little bit of respect and that’s something that would never have happened a few years ago.

The bottom line is that Bizkit played to the people that considered them the enemy today and that they still managed to pull a show out of the bag that ignited an 80% positive reaction should be applauded. Now it’s up to the band to deliver a record that capitalizes on all of the good-will thrown their way this summer.

i respected machine head more before they acted like children

good on limp bizkit, im a massive machine head fan but i think robb flyn is a cry baby.

Was at Sonisphere on Sunday and have to say, Machine Head were without doubt, the band of the day.

21 circle pits and even when Adam, Dave and Phil had left the stage and Robb was doing a thank you speech (at which point I’m sue he had a lump in his throat) another circle pit cropped up – how many bands can get a circle pit in full swing without any music.

MACHINE ‘FUCKIN’ HEAD can!!!! Thank god they finally decided to play

The band of the day was NIN, but I still think Limp was better than MH>

noobpotato

Machine head were my personal band of the weekend (even against metallica), to the extent that when i watched limp bizkit i left after like 2 songs, it was just nothing compared. I guess the “fuck limp bizkit!” chants got over me.

God HatesMeMost

I enjoyed both bands but thought MH simply erased Knebworth from existance. NOTHING could top the sheer fury and hatred their set put out. Some old geezer (even older than me!) standing next to us was overheard to say “Bugger me – my ears hurt good!” at the end of their set.

Great stuff!

The reason LB didn’t take a bruisin might be that the MH and LoG fans had fucked off cos they were wiped out and are not interested in Limpid biscuit crumbs. I for one was overwhelmed by LoG and MfH and went off and bumped into loads of MH t-shirt wearing fans not watching LB- and complementing each other on their choice of shirt- (so what if Robb Flynn is a cry baby NICK- it shows he CARES!!!!!)

lololol

Rollin’ is just about the shittest song in the world ever

Douglas

Rollin sounds like a cover version of the Raw hide theme song

Every band I saw (and that is every band on the main stages over the two days of Sonisphere + more) fucking rocked and kicked arse except LB who sucked.
No question Mr. Durst is a great showman and LB are a reasonable band but without the constant screams of “motherfucker” couldn’t put a decent lyric together to save their lives.
NIN were the band of the weekend for me.

Limp Bizcuit, possibly the longest, most boring hour of my fucking life…utter SHITE!

And, just to prove a point, K…ra..g! gave Machine Head the INSPIRATION award on Monday night- Inspiration- yeahhhh thats what MfH are all about.

These reviews are inaccurate, if you were there you’d know what I meant…. why did my last post get edited out??? Its because this magazine condone inaccurate reporting to put their favourite bands on false pedistals!
