Get full details on the revamped and re-energised Splatterhouse, set for release on Xbox 360 and PS3 this Autumn.

When we found out that there’s a revitalised version of the classic game Splatterhouse, which features a maniac with a chainsaw destroying everything in his path to a soundtrack that includes Lamb of God and Five Finger Death Punch, we couldn’t believe our ears.

We liked what we heard so much that we even invited the good folks of Splatterhouse on board this year’s HMS Hammer. They then promptly held a revved-up chainsaw to our throats and told us to rename the boat HMS Splatter. We’re not going to argue with a psycho in a Vorhees-esque hockey mask and, as such, the 2010 Golden Gods were all about HMS Splatter!

Splatterhouse is a beat ‘em up from Namco Bandai, available on Xbox 360 and PS3. It’s a remake of the original arcade title, which was released in 1988 (the first game to have a parental warning!!)

As with the 1980’s originals, gamers will play as mask wearing Rick, trying to rescue his girlfriend Jennifer, from Dr West. West sends monsters to kidnap Jennifer and in the process they fatally wound Rick. Rick then finds a mask, which once he puts it on, gives him increased strength. He then goes on a hunt to find Jennifer and kill numerous monsters in the process!

We were, however, there to talk to people about a new game coming in October 2010 called Splatterhouse, due on the PS3 and Xbox 360, a remake of the first game to ever receive a parental advisory warning back in 1988.

Here’s a streaming link so you can watch it on MSN Video

As the remake goes a step further, we thought the only people that could talk to us with any authority on the matter were some out-of-control Heavy Metal megastars. Luckily, the chaotic boat we were on was sending us to the Metal Hammer Golden God Awards at the O2 arena. Here we talked to the some of the biggest names in the genre;. Steel Panther, Five Finger Death Punch and Evile were on hand to put the game through its paces and let us know what they think of the heavy metal gorefest known as Splatterhouse.
