Stone Temple Pilots Speak About New Album
STP aim to have a brand new album out this summer and Robert DeLeo has had a few words to say about what we can expect from the album.
Stone Temple Pilots will release their first new album since 2001’s ‘Shangri-La Dee Da’ this year and Spin recently caught up with bassist Robert DeLeo to talk about what we can expect from the album.
“Fans are going get a great STP record,” says Robert DeLeo. “We know what STP sounds like — we have a sonic blueprint. It’s always worked for me to put myself in the ears of the listener. I ask myself, “What kind of STP record would I want to hear?” The answer is a really cohesive record with songs that are going to be lasting. Fans don’t necessarily want to hear songs from me being the best person I can be. Those songs are for a solo record. STP fans don’t want that side of me. This band is attractive because we bring it to the edge of a cliff and write songs that have attitude.”

Cool! “Everybody run, Bobby’s got a gun!”
Does this make them festival contenders?
Headline the 2nd stage at Sonisphere anybody?
I hope so.
I’d love to see STP live. I just wish supergroups had more cohesion than they did (i.e. Audioslave and VR in particular). Still far better than a lot of the toss out there though
