Ronnie James Dio formed Dio the heavy metal band after he left Black Sabbath (where he replaced Ozzy Osbourne into the 80’s). In May 1983 Dio released the seminal ‘Holy Diver’ album. RJD was also the singer in Deep Purple for a spell. Dio continues to record and release albums into his 60’s.
