Orginally called Dragon Slayer, Slayer formed in Huntington Park, California in 1982. The line-up featured Tom Araya (bass guitar, vocals), Kerry King, Jeff Hanneman (guitars) and Dave Lombardo (drums). The band helped to popularise the thrash genre and their satanic lyrics earned them well-deserved notoriety.
