Testament to play UK’s Bloodstock
Veteran San Francisco Bay Area metallers TESTAMENT have been confirmed for the 2007 edition of the Bloodstock Open Air festival, set to take place July 6-7 at Catton Hall in Derbyshire, England. Also scheduled to appear are BLIND GUARDIAN, KORPIKLAANI, MENDEED and RISE TO ADDICTION.
TESTAMENT last played the U.K. over two years ago and has been a band repeatedly requested back by their U.K. metal fans. The band will not be playing any other U.K. festival dates in 2007, and they will have Nick Barker (formerly of CRADLE OF FILTH and DIMMU BORGIR) joining them on drums.
As previously reported, a video clip of TESTAMENT perfoming at the Independent in San Francisco, California on January 27, 2007 has been posted online at YouTube.com.
TESTAMENT is currently working with new drummer Nick Barker on material for its first studio album since 1999′s “The Gathering”. Nick Barker told BLABBERMOUTH.NET last month that “what we have so far is quite honestly mindblowing stuff in the vein of ‘The Legacy’-, ‘New Order’-meets-’The Gathering’, only with yours truly behind the kit pounding like I’ve never pounded before.”
Spitfire will release a TESTAMENT compilation, “The Spitfire Collection”, on February 13. Consisting of tracks from such Spitfire/Testament titles as “The Gathering”, “Demonic”, “Live at the Fillmore”, “First Strike Still Deadly” and “Live in London”, the 14-track set chronicles an era that ultimately saw the original TESTAMENT reunite for a successful 2005 tour. As a result, “The Spitfire Collection” features both live versions of such TESTAMENT classics as “Practice What You Preach”, “Over the Wall”, and “Souls of Black”, as well as such oft-overlooked studio tracks as “Careful What You Wish For” and “The Burning Times”.
